Yeah LS plug wires wont fit on those

You'll need to verify the dwell time is the same.

the 3rd picture look like it has the correct connection inside. Why wont ls wires fit? IS the boot section too long or not a big enough diameter?

doesn't look like it would from the pic at least not from memory, I hadn't tried a newer coil to see.

So listen, i hear you on the oem coils but sooner or later they are not going to be available. They are already being knocked off with lots of reviews claiming they are counterfeit. I've read denso 673-6000 are the original manufacturer coils before they went to China. If Denso are the original manufacturer do you see a problem trying those?

From pushing in the LS wire it's not clicking/connecting onto the coil connection. I haven't tried to measure the coil OD connection and wire ID connection. But it also looks like the coil connection is set further in than the LS wires allow.

This can all be fixed by using the 7.3L plug wires. I would like to figure out if these can be used before investing any more money.

I didn't think about the coil dwell time. I'll see what information I can find.

For the 2V coils I've also briefly looked into building custom spark plug wires. But trying to figure out the coil connection is the problem of course.

Im going to order a single Denso to check to see if it has the right connection. the only way to guarantee you dont get fake motorcraft 2v coils is to order from ford and they want damn near 500$ for a set of coils through all the dealers here. As far as the 7.3l wires go, they have a 90degree boot on them instead of a 45/135. The boot appears to be metal shielded so you might be able to flex the shield to make them fit. You can buy the 7.3l coils and plug wires direct from ford performance for 320$. If they work, they may be a good cheap OEM option. Wonder how you would find the dwell info

Maybe OEM 2V coils will work.

As far as plug wires for the 7.3, I have seen aftermarket that get rid of that metal connection and they looked to be something less than 90 deg.

I talked to my friend who works for Ford. While he's not too familiar with the "dumb" ignition coils. We didn't really see why the 7.3 wouldn't work. Shouldn't dwell be controlled by the pcm? One pin is just +12V and the other connects to the pcm, which triggers the coil to fire. Assuming this is done by connecting to ground which collapses the field.

Dwell is controlled by the ecu but if the coil requires 10ms as dwell and the ecu can't support that or you don't set it in the ecu, the coils won't fire properly. I emailed Ford performance. They can usually get specs like dwell requirements.

2v coils will absolutely work but if we can use a part from 2020 instead of 2004, i would rather use newer. They will be readily available much longer, plus i like the mount for the 7.2l better.

I got an email back from Ford. The dwell time is 1.95 ms. @Decipha, will that work with RZASA?
