2006 expedition 5.4l e85

Unread post by efloth »

Now that e85 is half the price of regular unleaded in cali, my buddy wants to convert his expo. What hardware is needed for the diy tooner? Is it better to order a sct handheld with a canned e85 tune?

If he wants to get an xcal by all means go on and get one but without the pro racer package he wont be able to diy tune it.

if hes getting a can e85 tune then he wont be diy tuning?

the pro racer is fine if thats what he wants that would be his best bet co.pared to all other software options out there

What all does he have done to her ?

its all the same

set stoich to e85 and shoot mbt to it
put wot lambda at .83
set the fuel pressure to 65 psi over 0.000010 fuel flow, be sure to set the high load fuel pres delay timer to 0 !!!! thats required otherwise it will go lean at wot.
adjust the cold startup adding or removing fuel to find the sweet spot if need be.

then go to the etc table and copy the rows down. i.e. copy 4 to 3, 6 to 4 and copy the upper rows down. That way you dont have to get in to the throttle as hard so it stays in a higher gear with the converter locked and can still accelerate getting a touch better fuel economy with the new found power. Set the OL pedal threshold to about 60 for good measure.

Should pick up about 75rwhp on e85 (235rwhp stock to 310rwhp)

you may need to adjust the high slope deltap multiplier at 65psi if wot fuel is off. Henry sometimes extrapolates goofy values and just tosses them in if its a non normal running condition.

you can multiply the engine torque table by 1.15% at 80 load on up if you want, its not necessary but will firm up the trans at wot. You'll have to adjust the inverse table in that torque range too if you do.

you can also increase the torque modulation table values as well to reduce the torque reduction on up shifts if you want.

that "tune" is pretty basic if its stock, if u have any issues just lmk.

Awesome, thanks man. Is sctflash.com the best place to order the license and handheld?
