2001 Escape 3.0 4V

For all other non specifically listed ECU tuning. This would include can-bus ecu's such as powerpc copperhead tricore and siemens ecus. As well as GM, Dodge or any aftermarket controller tuning etc...

Vehicle Information: 1997 Mountaineer 5.0 that originally had a wasted spark ignition system. I've converted to coil-near-plug. I am using a 4.6 Luxury Sedan PCM with 8 coil drivers & a modified powertrain harness. Light reprogramming was required to adjust to the changes and operate the Windsor 5.0.

2001 Escape 3.0 4V

I'm trying to help my brother with his "economy" Ford now that the increase in gasoline prices are costing a lot using his 5.0 Explorer daily.
He has been chasing down a misfire and has even sent the pcm off to a repair business to repair the pcm. Originally missing on #1 cyl and #2.
Late Friday he had it down to just #1 with the repaired pcm. He purchased a JY pcm and the owner said if it didn't work, send it back for a swap.
I used my Scanmatic Pro 2 along with Oleg's PcmFlash module #29 software. I flashed or wrote to it an identical bin file from his original pcm. I assumed that after installation, the Escape would fire right up. Nope! nor with a 2nd replacement. Am I overlooking something? I'm not familiar with these Escapes. I haven't had any problems making "clone" pcms for our 1998 and 1999 Explorers. Also, no problems with PATS off versions. I haven't had to do the grounding the dk blue/or stripe wire that I had to do with my 1999 Ranger 3.0 truck.
During all of this, this #1 misfire has been fixed. Brother went into the harness near the 104-pin connector after detecting on "open" short. Someone's repair pulled apart on the #1 coil circuit. Truck runs great now with the repaired original pcm. He just wants a spare pcm to carry with him on his commute that is off of the beaten path, so to speak.
Should a pcm work that I do have a PATS off program that my PATS off friend, Pat in IL fixed up for me?
Would it be plug and play or would a PATS module wire need grounded? I'm not finding anything about PATS modules in 2001 Escapes.
Thanks in advance for any insight guys!

If pats is disabled then it no longer exists.

you can swap ecus all day long that do not have pats without pats issues since they dont have pats

u sure your bud disabled it ? sounds like he didnt.

I was having trouble with the straight stock clone pcms. I/we don't know the history of the 25 yo pcms. It might be why vehicle went to JY.
I/we haven't tried the PATS off program. Monday I will flash it. Tonight I will run the stock bin file against the PATS off file and check to see where it is switched. I myself wouldn't know if the change is correct but if you will be around up until 9pm central, I'll do a snip of the code line/s compare.
Thanks for looking at this if you can. Escape is up in Tennessee 30 mins from here.

No need, just put it in and crank it. If it starts all good if not then no good.
