For all other non specifically listed ECU tuning. This would include can-bus ecu's such as powerpc copperhead tricore and siemens ecus. As well as GM, Dodge or any aftermarket controller tuning etc...
I thought it could be done if keeping complete gen 2 timing components but later I did read read that some ppl say I can be done with a tweak in the tune for the mid lock phasers and others say it is plain not possible.
There is an old Ford tech article released at the same time of the gen 2 engine that says:
The Gen 2 phasers , primary chain, and crank-sprocket are a matched set and cannot be interchanged with Gen 1 chain-drive. Also, VCT bolts are new for Gen 2 chain-drive due to bolt clearance to VCT solenoids. A calibration modification will be needed due to Gen 2 mid-lock phases
The thing is have a gen 1 F-150 refreshed (cleaned, crank bearings, rod bearings, rings and gaskets new) short block and a pair of used 2015-17 Mustang GT heads with cams with phasers. I do not have gen 1 camshafts and they are not available where I live, they are $1800ish which is a 100% turnoff for me rn.

I dont understand why you wouldn't just swap the gen 2 ecu in ?
Because it's a S197, I want gauges and everything to work (cruise, gauges and whatever uses the same data lines), if that would work with 2015+ PCM I can try to wire it.
