FBFG2/PTP2 > FBGI0

European strategy specific for 2004 ford mustang euro spec but also modified by SVT and used on the 03/04 cobra. Can be used on all 2002-2004 mustang v8 and v6 manual and automatics. Supports automatic 4r70w control. Can be used on 2001-2004 ford F-150 4.6 / 5.4 ecu's if configured correctly as well.

FBFG2/PTP2 > FBGI0

Unread post by Cougar281 »

It's been quite a bit since I had last asked about this, so just bringing up to the top... Any chance of a bone stock port of a FBFG2/PTP2 cal the FBFI0 strategy? I honestly have no idea what is involved in such things, but if memory serves, you had mentioned that it was in the works or would be.

The problem I had was we tried several 'modified' files (I don't know what you did on your side) that for whatever reason, never worked right. I could flash the stock PTP2 BIN into my QH, and it was fine, then flash what you sent in and it was... not so fine. Usually hard starts, trans engagement stalling, to name things that come to mind if memory serves.

I'd really like to move over to the FBGI0 strategy, but I'd really love to start with a known 1:1 mapping of the FBFG2/PTP2 to a FBGI0/???? equivalent. Is this a possibility?

As I've stated before, EVENTUALLY, when time, money and space allows, I want to drop a DOHC engine into my Cougar and tune it appropriately, starting with a base tune from a 2003/2004 Mach 1 Auto, since that's essentially what the driveline will be, and then enlist your paid custom services to dial it in. But for now, I'd love to move over to the FBGI0 strategy with a known 1:1 port of what I have now that I can tinker with in the mean time.

Attached.

Yeah, those issues were supposed to occur before as it just needed to be dialed in.\

Either way starting from a full port or dialing in the other you'll end up with the same tune when its dialed in properly.

I disabled theft and the returnless pump for you for your return style.

// changes //
-----------------
rf_mode enabled
rf_dc_ca changed to 0
rfs_type_sel changed to 0 except frps still enabled
assuming you still have the frps, if not disable INJ_PW_COMP so the deltap is locked at 40psi
pats disabled

Awesome, Thank you! I'll load it up and in the next week or so.

I assume that this can be flashed into the PCM using PCMFlash just like the FBFG2 bin?

yeah download my converter scripts from the programming section and just drag and drop it on to the 256 > 224 script to convert it

write away

best bet would be to fire up the QH though so you can actually tune it. The stock tune can be refined quite a bit.

First Test was good (fuel pump actually shuts off after a second or so now!). I think only one question though. RFS_TYPESEL - Pump Type (return) (Disables FRPS) is set to 2 (what do values other than 2 mean? I would assume 0 is disabled and enables return fuel system, but are there any other values?) and I set INJ_PW_COMP to 'Not Set' like you said as I do not have the FRPS at this time, but I got a P1233 and P0193. Is this expected behavior with the FRPS not connected? If so, no big deal, I can just disable those DTCs.

press f10 and my comments will pop up to tell you

yeah disable p1233 by setting it to 0 and bypass p0193 by setting it to 1

Well, I had set the P0193 to 0 (before I posted) and that killed the DTC.

As for the comments, yes, I looked there, and while some things have well fleshed out comments, others don't. For example, for P0193, it just says 'P0193SW', and RFS_TYPESEL - Pump Type (return) (Disables FRPS) just says 'This specific address disables the deltap modifiers'.

I looked at a PTP2 calibration in BE and it says 0 is off, 1 is no CEL and 2 is CEL. I would assume that applies to all DTCs.

yeah all dtc switches are the same

0 disables the dtc
1 bypasses it so it doesnt set a cel
2 sets a cel when the fault is set

that specific address for that rfs_typesel code just disables the frps, theres more than one address for it

the others should be commented out
0 return
1 mechanical returnless
2 returnless

Just to be sure I'm on the same page - if I had a stock returnless system, then all three 'RFS_TYPESEL' should be set to 2, if I had a return with the FRPS, then 'RFS_TYPESEL - Pump Type (return) (Disables FRPS)' should be set to 2 but the other two set to 0, but in my case all three should be set to 0 as I do not have the FRPS?
