I saw the modules you recommended to buy with the pcm and mcm flash dongles. Do you recommend any others in addition to those to cover 1996-current model year ford and Lincoln vehicles? Also, do you recommend a good source to buy the dongles and modules from? I saw that ecutools.eu is noted in your write up, is that still the recommended source? Thanks.

ok awesome, so pcmflash and modules 73, 2, 21, 29 will cover from 1996 to current model year ford and lincoln vehicles? or will there be other modules I should purchase in addition to those 4? You mention mcmflash for the newer model vehicles with continental pcm, is there a compatable pcmflash module now? thanks again for the assistance.

That’s where I think I’m a bit confused. The getting started writ up says pcmflash with the 4 modules and mcmflash with one module and you said pcm flash will do it all, so I wasn’t sure if I was missing something or if pcm flash came out with some new modules to do the newer stuff?

So…just to clarify…I only need to purchase PCMFlash and the 4 modules you recommended to cover from 1996 to 2014 model year vehicles? Or at least 2023 ish anyways. Because in your write up you state that the newer vehicles require mcmflash and above you stated I don’t need mcmflash. So I am a bit confused. Thanks.

The Getting Started page says PCMflash or MMCFlasher. From looking at MMCFlasher, it appears to be basically the same thing as PCMFlash.

Am I looking at the wrong getting started writeup?
I am not trying to be complicated, I just want to make sure I understand correctly, so I only have to pay shipping one time for the needed dongles. Sorry if it seems like I am trying to be hard to get along with or a PITA. Thanks for the help

MMCFlasher
At the time of writing this PCMflash does not support reading and writing the 2015+ US fords. I use and recommend MMCflasher for doing them. MMCFlasher may also support the older ecu's as well but as I have never used it for them I cannot recommend it. If you do successfully do so then please do let me know. I recommend the following MMCFlasher module for the 2015-2017 Fords:

Module # Year Range PCM Type
Ford >> Continental EMS24XX[4096k] CAN 2015 - 2017 Continental

To shine some light here..

I ordered all 4 PCM Flash modules myself. Basing my ordering process off the Getting Started writeup and ECUtools information.

I searched the ECUtools site for updates and news, cross-referenced info from here and other US sites to make my decision.

The rally of information based on ECU PN/Strategies/Makes swayed my decision to just spend the $493.50 USD vs trying to fart around with Derive/SCT PRP or other Boxed Unit types and spending $2500+.

Granted: I've been told in the past by several people that things I come up with "won't work" but prove them wrong every time.

My $.02 is just order the modules be ahead. They do work and will get you that much further ahead of the curve. Might need extra, might not.

Now, once I receive them, if you haven't found a solution it's quite possible I will.

I have 96, 2013 and 2019 Ford vehicles in my garage. 4v to 3.5L EB that they are getting used on first. Also a 10 3v 5.4L my dad wants tuned without dealing with the x4 again.

Hope this helps. I should receive these in 2 weeks as they've left Russian Federation as of 10-5.

Did you happen to receive your PCMFlash stuff yet? If so, have you used it successfully? Did you find that you needed any more modules than those in the getting started writeup? Thanks
