Need custom EEC-V tuning for governor operation

I have a 2002 JLG 600 boom lift running a Ford Power Products 2.5L EFI four cylinder gas/propane engine. The computer failed and has been obsoleted. Tried to have ERD fix it but they gave up. So I installed a 1998 Ford Ranger engine harness and EEC-V computer. Starts and runs great. It needs to be governed at idle and at 1850 RPM. I installed an electronic governor that is operating the throttle body. It does some erratic things that I think may have to do with the stock EEC-V programming. Can anyone suggest a solution for this? Can the EEC be programmed to operate more like a carbureted engine or similar? Propane operation is not important. It is currently running on 87 pump gasoline.Thank you, Alex

Hmm, interesting.
The Speed Density EEC-IV for 7.0L heavy truck applications has a governor in the code:
7.0L GOVERNOR MAP SIGNAL (GOVHP = 1)

OVERVIEW

The DPI output, HSO-0, is used on the 7.0L heavy duty truck application as an
input to the stand alone governor. It is used to provide information about
engine load, compensated for altitude, so that high governor gains can be used
to achieve a quick response on an unloaded engine, while lower gains can be used
on a loaded engine for normal throttle control. The value MAPPA is used as a
load parameter compensated for altitude.

The signal is a 100 Hz pulse width modulated signal.
I don't know if EEC-V has that option.

What is the hardware code on the boom lift EEC?

Interesting about the 7.0L governor. The boom lift engine is made by Ford Power Products but the computer was not made by Ford. I was told that the end user (JLG) supplied their own operating program but I'm not sure. I still have the old computer if anyone could pull the information from it. I have the old harness, too.

Does your JLG ECM look like this:?

Can you just set the rev limiter lower in the tune? if all else fails you can make an air intake tube restrictor. It might take quite a bit of trial and error.

Here's the old computer Ford 1U1L-12A650-CB or JLG 1600367. It operated a Bosch motorized throttle body 1U1L-9E979-BA and used a MAP sensor instead of a MAF. The rest of the parts on the engine appear to be stock Ford stuff.

How does the new governor know what to do? when does it raise rpm? I think the simplest solution is to set the engine for single speed operation with a high idle around 1100-1300 rpm if that will run the machine. If the rpms are too high it could cause an accident, it being a tall boom lift.

The new governor generates an RPM signal using a magnetic pickup installed close to the flywheel ring gear. It generates an AC voltage (frequency) of about 1 to 6 volts. The governor uses that data to modulate a magnetic coil inside the actuator that then opens/closes the throttle body butterfly. Problem is the Ford Ranger computer idling is about 10 degrees retarted timing. Barely move the throttle shaft and RPM jumps up around 1500 and the timing jumps to about 20 or degrees advanced. I assume that is part of the Ford EEC-V programming?
I have messed with the throttle body idle stop screw. I can get it to run revved up around 1500RPM consistently but as soon a load is put on it bogs way down. Also, you want the engine to idle when you're not using the hydraulics to save fuel.

do you have an idle air control valve?

seems like it would be simple to dial in
