351C conversion parts found

For anything machine shop / speed shop or engine specific. More technical than the range but not quite tuning specific.

351C conversion parts found

Unread post by AcesArneson »

Hello everyone, after searching relentlessly for months I have a list of manufacturers and retailers that can help with the 'hard to find parts'.

My 351C conversion is a SEFI with Coil on Plug ignition. These are the parts I would have had to manufacture if I did not find someone already making them.

Camshaft Synchronizer - Price Motorsports
Crank Trigger Wheel - 64 Bit Tuning (I measured the 4-bolt pattern from my crank pulley and it matches up, hope it fits when it gets here.)
Crank Trigger Sensor (VR sensor) - Innovators West
Crank Trigger Sensor Bracket for 351C - Innovators West.
I was not able to order direct from Innovators West (Canadian shipping to a USA address) so they directed me to Summit Racing where I saved a few bucks on the order and they list the bracket on their site for me.

All of the rest of the parts should come from a donor vehicle with the exception of the fuel rail which you can find anywhere. Good luck Cleveland lovers.

I'm curious how the 351C/SEFI conversion is going? Tell me/us more of how you swapped to a 4R75E transmission?

It’s is the slowest process I have undertaken in years. I am still waiting for the engine to come back from the mechanic. I decided to scrap the 4R75E because it requires a bellhousing adapter which is more expensive than a new transmission. I found a 4R70W with the Essex bellhousing pattern from a 2003 Mustang GT. It has been rebuilt to handle as much torque as I can give it. Not sure if you are interested in follow up on how the 4 R 70W will fit but if there is anything I can tell you as I get closer to assembly I will add it on my build profile.

The SBF bolt pattern would be out of a v6 (essex) mustang, not the GT. Pretty sure they can be built up the same as any 4r70 though.

Seems like a cool project, I wouldn't mind seeing how the transmission swap comes along.

Oops you’re right, the fuel pump was from a GT.

Had a bit of a scare on the speedo. The 4R70W have electric vss and my old 73 has a manual speedo cable. I looked at the vss and searched online for a fitting that would do both electronic and mechanical but couldn’t find one for the year of tranny I have. I was pretty concerned I would need to throw down $400 for a speed converter or double that for a digital instrument panel. As it turns out a friend of mine told me to check for a dummy clip on the tail and sure enough there is a plastic clip that hides a hole for a mechanical speedo gear. I felt inside on the shaft and there are threads for a mechanical speedo. So when I i finish with re-sizing the rear wheels I will do the math and figure out which gear I need. I have replaced the rear gears as well from 2.75’s to 3.50’s.

@AcesArneson You can use a speedometer cable from a '93 Mustang for cruise control and hook the mechanical cable to the speedometer and have an electric output too if you need it.

Thanks for the information, that sounds like a great idea.
