Howdy! First thank you Decipha for this awesome A9L2 code! Holy wow it's a learning curve for EFI in general and your Bin/Def but I'm figuring it out and a lot of it is making sense especially with the extra effort of documentation. From an IT Security guy, much <3 for commenting code ;)
I got my first log set today too and super thrilled and well, holy wow even MORE to learn... I see I'm running a bit rich but that makes me happy to start with cuz now I know vs. just my built in sniffer ;) I gather I get to work on my MAF table but now I CAN tune it!
I've only tuned the base items Decipha says you must adjust with the key one for me being the Injectors. My stock ECM (C3W) supports 19Lbs but I have 30s so a tune was required.
On to the questions!
I have INJ Faults for 2,3,4,6,8 but the truck idles and can rev. Have not driven it yet. I'm waiting till tow trucks are readily available in the AM ;) What do these flags really mean since it's clearly running? Is it a one fault and it's flagged till cleared or is it a consistent fault?
I see I'm in "Drive" but I'm in Park. I gather this just means which table, Neutral vs. Drive it's using but how did it select this? I have an AOD so 100% mechanical and an 87 so no ref to which gear I've selected. Makes me wonder how using the base C3W works but I will say it reacts differently from Park vs. Neutral vs. in D/R gears normally. I'll see how this reacts tomorrow.
I also have SEQ_FIRE in FUEL_IN_SYNC.... I'm really hoping that's a positive flag saying it's AOK right? If it was BAD it'd say somethin else and probably be in RED highlight?
My truck does not have a VSS, it's a cable driven speedo. I know some params ref the speed. Do I have to add a VSS now or is that just to help smooth out some calculations? The C3W PCM/MAF has been with this truck for over 20 years and they play well together on the old 302 HO roller and she's quick too so lacking MPH input was never a problem prior. Thoughts?
End ?s
I'm not asking anyone to look at my log now but I'll include it if you're bored and for the sake of my experience as a n00b, I did download some folks logs just to see what I could see and figure this thing out ;) So for a n00b DL'in my log, the truck runs fine and no issues off the cuff. A solid startup, idle, throttle blip, then back to idle and I turn the engine off. So if you wanted a baseline of a reasonable running log set w/ A9L2, this might be useful for ya. The engine startup doesn't happen till 1:50 in as well so you can see the EEC pre-run stats too. Also if you're wondering if you can pull logs while the engine is off like I did... YES YOU CAN and now I know too :D
I'm also including my Bin which again only CHGs done are specific to 30Lbs Injectors, & the 347 CID using Decipha's A9L2 and only adjusting the parameters he says are required to begin in the DoX @ http://www.efidynotuning.com/a9l2.htm
No guarantees I did things correctly either but I do believe I did ;)
For the n00bs using TunerPro RT with a Quarter Horse / QH, finding out how to turn on the logs was a bit of a PITA like everything else w/ this EFI research cuz you have to piece it all together across over a decade of info...
How to Enable Logs in TunerPro RT!
(This part can be done w/ the QH disconnected from laptop)
1: Go to "Tools" -> "Preferences"
2: Click the "Data Acq./Emulation" tab
3: For "Interface Type" select ""User Plug-in"
4: Click "Configure Plug-in Component"
5: For "Port Type" select "Shared with Emulator"
6: Click "OK" then "Apply" then "OK"
(Quarter Horse MUST be connected now)
7: Click "Initial Emulation Hardware" (the cable n plug icon at the top) if it's not already initialized
8: Click "Enable/Disable Live Tuning" (the chip icon)
9: Click "Acquire Data (Connect/Disconnect)"
10: Select "Acquisition" -> "Start/Stop Data Scan"
11: Select "Acquisition" -> "Toggle Data Tracing"
11: Select "Acquisition" -> and 1 or more of the 4 bottom items for "Show"
Now you should have some logs!
Once you're done and have what you want, you just stop the logs "Acquisition" -> "Stop" or ALT+Space and TunerPro will prompt you to save your log file where ever you want. Then you can replay/pause/rewind/etc and look at all the other fields you couldn't focus on all at once.
Super frickin neat stuff! As Craig put it to me "You'll have years of tuning experience ahead of you" :D
And Def thank you Decipha again for the massive amount of work you and certainly other folks have all put into this project :) <3
The Data Tracing may not be required but it just makes sense so I did it. As I figure more out about this logging stuff, I'll update this bit here but if I forget like most folks do when they say they'll update a post, at least you've got more recent info than 2008 ;)
