Howdy! First thank you Decipha for this awesome A9L2 code! Holy wow it's a learning curve for EFI in general and your Bin/Def but I'm figuring it out and a lot of it is making sense especially with the extra effort of documentation. From an IT Security guy, much <3 for commenting code ;)
I got my first log set today too and super thrilled and well, holy wow even MORE to learn... I see I'm running a bit rich but that makes me happy to start with cuz now I know vs. just my built in sniffer ;) I gather I get to work on my MAF table but now I CAN tune it!
I've only tuned the base items Decipha says you must adjust with the key one for me being the Injectors. My stock ECM (C3W) supports 19Lbs but I have 30s so a tune was required.
On to the questions!
I have INJ Faults for 2,3,4,6,8 but the truck idles and can rev. Have not driven it yet. I'm waiting till tow trucks are readily available in the AM ;) What do these flags really mean since it's clearly running? Is it a one fault and it's flagged till cleared or is it a consistent fault?
I see I'm in "Drive" but I'm in Park. I gather this just means which table, Neutral vs. Drive it's using but how did it select this? I have an AOD so 100% mechanical and an 87 so no ref to which gear I've selected. Makes me wonder how using the base C3W works but I will say it reacts differently from Park vs. Neutral vs. in D/R gears normally. I'll see how this reacts tomorrow.
I also have SEQ_FIRE in FUEL_IN_SYNC.... I'm really hoping that's a positive flag saying it's AOK right? If it was BAD it'd say somethin else and probably be in RED highlight?
My truck does not have a VSS, it's a cable driven speedo. I know some params ref the speed. Do I have to add a VSS now or is that just to help smooth out some calculations? The C3W PCM/MAF has been with this truck for over 20 years and they play well together on the old 302 HO roller and she's quick too so lacking MPH input was never a problem prior. Thoughts?
End ?s
I'm not asking anyone to look at my log now but I'll include it if you're bored and for the sake of my experience as a n00b, I did download some folks logs just to see what I could see and figure this thing out ;) So for a n00b DL'in my log, the truck runs fine and no issues off the cuff. A solid startup, idle, throttle blip, then back to idle and I turn the engine off. So if you wanted a baseline of a reasonable running log set w/ A9L2, this might be useful for ya. The engine startup doesn't happen till 1:50 in as well so you can see the EEC pre-run stats too. Also if you're wondering if you can pull logs while the engine is off like I did... YES YOU CAN and now I know too :D
I'm also including my Bin which again only CHGs done are specific to 30Lbs Injectors, & the 347 CID using Decipha's A9L2 and only adjusting the parameters he says are required to begin in the DoX @ http://www.efidynotuning.com/a9l2.htm
No guarantees I did things correctly either but I do believe I did ;)
For the n00bs using TunerPro RT with a Quarter Horse / QH, finding out how to turn on the logs was a bit of a PITA like everything else w/ this EFI research cuz you have to piece it all together across over a decade of info...
How to Enable Logs in TunerPro RT!
(This part can be done w/ the QH disconnected from laptop)
1: Go to "Tools" -> "Preferences"
2: Click the "Data Acq./Emulation" tab
3: For "Interface Type" select ""User Plug-in"
4: Click "Configure Plug-in Component"
5: For "Port Type" select "Shared with Emulator"
6: Click "OK" then "Apply" then "OK"
(Quarter Horse MUST be connected now)
7: Click "Initial Emulation Hardware" (the cable n plug icon at the top) if it's not already initialized
8: Click "Enable/Disable Live Tuning" (the chip icon)
9: Click "Acquire Data (Connect/Disconnect)"
10: Select "Acquisition" -> "Start/Stop Data Scan"
11: Select "Acquisition" -> "Toggle Data Tracing"
11: Select "Acquisition" -> and 1 or more of the 4 bottom items for "Show"
Now you should have some logs!
Once you're done and have what you want, you just stop the logs "Acquisition" -> "Stop" or ALT+Space and TunerPro will prompt you to save your log file where ever you want. Then you can replay/pause/rewind/etc and look at all the other fields you couldn't focus on all at once.
Super frickin neat stuff! As Craig put it to me "You'll have years of tuning experience ahead of you" :D
And Def thank you Decipha again for the massive amount of work you and certainly other folks have all put into this project :) <3
The Data Tracing may not be required but it just makes sense so I did it. As I figure more out about this logging stuff, I'll update this bit here but if I forget like most folks do when they say they'll update a post, at least you've got more recent info than 2008 ;)

To my VSS/MPH ?, I'm thinking the RPM Calcs have been taking over but I gather always there's that time for the EEC to review stats on startup, try to compensate, then finally fail and default to in this case the RPM to whatever table. I see this happen in numerous functions where they have a table but when in fail or in question, it falls back to a "safe" table.
I'm starting to see connections to sounds, RPMs, seconds, etc. and how things are syncing together because I have DATA to correlate what I hear/feel/see. Incredible :)

injector faults are for eec-v not eec-iv so its nothing
park/drive is for autos with the nds circuit on pin 30. If you have a manual then its going to use neutral/park only.
the other flags are for eec-v no worries
vss input is most useful for nitrous control and dashpot returning to idle. no worries though on swaps
tunerpro setup is all covered in the getting started write up on the homepage.

So got my first test drive to and from the gas station. No tow truck necessary ;) She does have a noticeable increase in performance w/ the A9L2 and 30Lbs Injectors + 347 CID value entries. Def different than running on the stock tune and the new setup. The power is close to my previous 302 HO w/ 19Lbs Inj on the stock tune but clearly there's more to do.
I see I'm running lean and it smells like shit vs. the pleasant rich smell so seems to match up. Looks like I get to take my first true steps at tuning now :D Yes Decipha I'll be re-reading your tuning guides now I have data so that mass of info should start clickin even more and now I can do something with it ;)
This would be the one log I'd really appreciate a quick review from someone with at least a thumbs up or YOU WILL DESTROY YOUR ENGINE IF YOU RUN IT ANYMORE review ;)
1: I have a factory Knock Sensor installed and connected (Truck 302, yes they had them) but I see it's never been "Enabled" in the stock Bins nor my C3W PCM (makes sense since a Mustang PCM). Seems no one except Decipha's Defs included the settings for it since enabling it in TunerPro or BE using the standard Defs makes things go bad.
Does the Knock Sensor stuff actually work in A9L2 for EEC-IV? I'm thinking I'd want KNKCYL set to 1 if I do since it wouldn't know what CYL had the issue. Looking at the other Knock settings, they seem to be set to ranges to ensure even if I enable it, it will do nothing till I define these hence why I ask "Do they work?". Looks like power windows can trip that sensor up. Wonder how that'd work out offroad on a bumpy trail?
2: Just noticed in History Tables I have N_LOAD_KNOCK triggering around .3 and .4 with values of 9 in the various RPM ranges I was at.... What is this especially if Knock Sensor is not enabled?
True story I've never heard knock in person, only a couple YT videos recently so I have no idea what to really listen for...
3: In History, there are a bunch of what appears as repetitive paramz but I'm thinkin they're the same TYPE of value like the IMAF stuff, but product specific like AEM/Innovative so I gather those are only relative if I have them right? i.e. ignore them and one day maybe just figure out what I don't need and strip those out for a cleaner view?
4: I see there's a Power Steering Pressure switch setting that's not enabled. I have the sensor connected but never knew what it did :D I'd honestly really like to know what PSI that thing runs at. Very useful for offroading when stuck on a rock, it'd be nice to know how close I am to the 1400 PSI load limit before I blow up the PS pump...
5: There's nothing special w/ ACT location and EEC-IV design right? i.e. I can move the ACT to the filter box to get more realistic air temps or does it really have to be from the heat soaked manifold?
6: How do I have two separate HEGO & Lambse values when I only have a single stock O2 sensor, no wide band either? Ex. HEGO1 .205 HEGO2 .198 / LAMBSE1 0.62 LAMBSE2 .0500
For the most part, things are making good sense and this data is essential for me to get this engine running proper and ensure I don't convert over $10k into a boat anchor ;) I'm gonna go be a good student now and read more before I start tinkering ;)

Also I see Lambda in the Dyno Graph at say 0.75 which implied to me it was running rich but the Running State graph shows the Lambda at 1.15 at the same moment in time (2:43 time stamp for this reference). It's def lean so the Running State graph appears to be the correct one. Am I just reading something wrong here?
Bonus, my MPH is here and appears to be about accurate. No idea how that's possible unless it's a calc off RPMs since I have a cable driven speedo but cool.

On #4, would think since it's a switch that's just for when the engine will raise the target idle speed a bit to account for the drag on the engine the PS pump will have when it's actually moving the rack.

no, the knock sensor code is pretty crappy on older fords
knock stuff is for eec v
u only view what you use or have
ps pressure sensor doesnt exist on guf hardware and its not a pressure output just a pressure change output
act should be in the inlet pipe not the manifold. check out the pre tune write up
if u have hego2 disabled then lambse2 will report same as lambse1. If it doesnt then you dont have it disabled correctly.
you need a wideband to read lambda
cable driven speedo should still have a vss like the fox does stock

Thank you Apex and Decipha. Def had to clarify the ACT w/ EEC-IV since I'm building a custom intake and plan to move it there since it came installed in the manifold. All my settings minus injectors and CID are default to what you've defined so it'd be somethin there but now I have an idea as to what to look at.
"u only view what you use or have" I guess you mean it only loads to the Dashboard/Monitors what the user has but still you have the full list of all the extra values from the ADX Editor that COULD be there. Pretty sure the answer is I can remove stuff, just be conscious and if something goes wrong, restore it. Also keep in mind when Decipha updates, and I update, I get all that stuff back. I'll speak more fluent TunerPro/EEC in time ;)
For the speedo, I'm guessing the EEC is also using the ABS sensor as a VSS like the later Broncos do. It's not a feature of the 87 and I believe thru 89, possibly up to 91. 92-96, they use the ABS for the VSS for sure. The sensor is the same in all the FSBs so it makes sense how it could interpret that... Interesting.
Yep, as said I'll be reading your guides again before I make my first adjustment.

i just looked over your log and your globally 20% rich.
Go multiply the entire maf by .8 to get it somewhere in the ballpark.
