stock slot maf in a 4.5 inch diameter tube

Used only on the 03/04 Marauder but can be used on any 03/04 ecu with code changes. Uses newer style SCP array so will not control cluster correctly on 2004 and older fords that use the older style SCP array such as mustangs.

stock slot maf in a 4.5 inch diameter tube

Unread post by dleach1407 »

My uncle is a machinist and has the ability to make me a custom maf housing that will work with a slot maf. My truck has a 4 barrel throttle body and I want to put a maf on top of the throttle body with an air cleaner on top of that. My goal is to use a 5 inch long air cleaner spacer with a 4.25-4.5 inch inner diameter with a slot maf in it. I am going to use an air straightener at the top (maybe bottom too) of the 5 inch long maf. Im going to try and use a drop down base to help hide the maf. I have an hpx slot maf but I figure since its in such a big housing a stock maf sensor may give me better resolution. My hpx maf in a 4.5 inch housing supports 1800 HP... I definitely dont need that. If I need to, I can shrink the inner diameter down more too but 4.5 inches matches the outer edges of the throttle ports criss-cross from each other. Thoughts?

Yeah definitely toss a screen on the bottom too. I'd recommend doubling up on the screens two on the top and two on the bottom.

Yeah a stock maf is all you need with a bore that large it'll support well over 600 hp no problem.

but yeah sounds good to me, I'd go for it.

I dont use a screen. I use a honeycomb structure in front of the maf. I have one of these in my charge pipe about 2 inches in front of my maf. I was going to use the 4:1 version in each end.

What is the largest inner diameter I can get away with using a stock element? It looks like 4.75 is the inner diameter I'm stuck with

Thats what I was asking. Do you by chance have a maf curve for something in the 4.75 inch range? Heck, im sure I could do it with a stock maf curve from a 05gt. Ill just need do some math.

yeah theres a few maf calculators for the alot mafa where u plug in the pipe size and it spits out the curve.

just take a stock slot curve for a 3" pipe and multiply it by 1.8 to get started then dial it in no problem
