EEC-IV Speed Density 6cyl vs 8cyl hardware

I was under the impression that 6cyl E4OD hardware is different from 8cyl E4OD hardware.
I just popped open two units, and visually, they are identical.
Same number of transistors, identical circuit boards, same 1991 Motorola numbers, etc.
6cyl from 1995, 8cyl from 1994.

Am I missing something, or with a QH, I can run 8cyl bin on the 6cyl hardware?

Do they have the same number of injector drivers?

From quick google image searching it looks like the drivers are the tall components on the sides of the ECU, also used for idle speed control and also voltage regulation for the ECU?

Yes, same number of injector drivers, batch fire, same number components, other than the 6cyl PCM has 2 more resistors, and 1 extra unidentified chip 14-pin on the chip side of the board. On the solder side of the board, under the unidentified 14-pin chip are a bunch of tiny resistors/caps.
I posted in my other thread the unidentified chip.

if its batch fire then its going to be the same.

Sequential injection has an individual driver for each injector which 2 cylinders wouldn't fire without if using a 6 cyl on an 8 cyl engine since it lacks those 2 extra drivers.

Batch fire only has 2 drivers, one for each bank.

Perfect!
Thank you.

would you mind sharing the 6cyl E4OD bin that you have?

No problem, it's SUB2, hardware SD47A.
From what I can tell, is identical to SD48B, but with Knock Sensor hardware.

Should be stock, if its modified, I can pull it again.
