Fuel pressure regulator recommendation

Unread postby PaulC-turbo5.0 » Sat Oct 12, 2019 6:36 am

Few years back had my original fpr go bad and I just replaced it with the BWD unit from advance auto. After struggles with my previous tuner I switched to a kirban to be able to adjust.

Now I am making some changes on the car and reversing the upper intake so I can redo my intake piping to reduce the amount of sharp bends and get the piping away from the turbo. With doing this the kirban is waaay to tall to fit under the reversed intake. With a 1/2” thick phenolic spacer the BWD unit just fits with a 90 degree vacuum connector.

I keep going back and forth on whether I should use the inexpensive BWD again or spend another $80 to buy a motor craft unit. The last few years as I’ve replaced items like these I’ve been sourcing motor craft online. Looking for opinions on whether you would use the BWD unit I have or drop another $80 for the motor craft.

Got a nice barely used kirban unit for sale if anyone is interested lol.

I think I have a BWD on mine. I replaced my really old motorcraft unit. I have had no issues at all with mine and my fuel pressure seems the same. I made over 500whp with it. If that kirban was a 94/95 style I would be interested but im sure its for a FOX based on your info.

Thanks for the replies I’m gonna run it. Not sure why I second guess these things.

Yea the kirban is for a fox. Nice unit but it’s almost an inch taller then the stocker. I had thoughts of cutting apart the stock one to custom make a remote mount for the kirban but it’s a lot easier adding the 1/2” spacer.
