BE Venting...

Unread postby Mikestang » Fri Jul 12, 2019 4:44 pm

Does anyone else just have constant issues when using BE...???

I am getting pretty sick of it really. I'm not one be be negative, but it never seems to work. Wants to look for AutoUpdate for the software. Wont open 90% of the time if I am not connected to the internet. I have not once got it to work right at the track. I get error messages all the time for many reasons, newest is now Cal Compare doesn't work. I have a very hard time getting it to connect with my Innovate, always a "hold your tongue this way" kind of thing. When I hit Update when tuning, about 50% of the time is does not work.

Am I the only one?

no idea I hadn't used BE in years. I remember back in the day I had random errors with BE that was often problematic but nothing I couldn't work through with perseverance. I Figured by now they would have all the bugs and quirks worked out.

I'd highly recommend giving tunerpro a try there has been several hundred people that have migrated from BE to TunerPro and other than the common complaint of having to open each scalar individually most people highly praise tunerpro for being significantly easier and faster to get going than BE.

Thanks, Ill check it out. Ill have to see if it will support tuning my DA1 file I got from SailorBob

Just bums me out, I enjoy tuning, but sick of wondering if it will work. I use to tune with SCT and it worked great, TunerStudio generally has no issues either.

Not many using it I imagine?

Hummm, there is a Free version or a RT version and even that is only $39. Geeze... Why wouldn't I at least try it. I have never even looked into this software. I've been using BE for quite a long time.

Turn off automatic updates in BE.
Innovate is working with BE for me.
Contact Clint with specific problems.

By all means give TP a go if you have a suitable def.

I haven't had any such problem with BE, but since my FLH2 truck is currently down I haven't used it much. I do open it occasionally to check for updates.

I have been using BE for a couple years and have no issues. I have used it both on windows 7 and windows 10. Multiple laptops and desktops, 0 problems

I had emailed Clint and he did a Remote in yesterday. Found a few issues and helped out. He did find an issue with the Compare that does not work, said he would fix that in his next update. Nice that he responds.

Another question,

In the Setting Tab, under User Preferences, I can select "Auto Update" in the calibration options. Is it ok to do this when making changes to the VE table? I assume it updates as soon as I hit enter?

I have not used the Calibration Auto Update feature, but the tooltip for the checkbox says it writes the calibration change straight away.
Don't make any typos or it could get ugly.

To be clear, I was talking about auto updates of the BE application. The phone home without internet is causing the BE startup issues.
