2011 4R75E third gear converter lock

Unread postby GT_Rich » Mon Jul 23, 2018 5:00 am

I have a 2011 Crown Vic PI which has a 4R75E trans. I am using the FCJCA strategy and factory DFK1 cal. I am remapping transmission and converter schedules. Since this car has a 3.27 rear gear and I drive on a lot of 45 mph roads, I prefer to keep the converter locked in third. I have changed all the TCC lock and unlock functions so that above 34 MPH the converter should be locked in third. However, it doesn’t quite lock. There remains a small (200 RPM) slip at low throttle position and that increases with TP. IF I USE THE OD OFF BUTTON ON THE GEAR SELECTOR, IT LOCKS. Even during throttle application, it locks. So cruising at 45 mph with 200 RPM of slip occurring – if I hit that button, RPM drops as converter is locked. With the OD off button selected, third gear converter function behaves exactly as I have it tuned.

What am I missing in the tune that will make this happen automatically? I do not want to toggle that button manually.

the tcc slip tables

go 0 out the third gear torque converter slip table so the tcc doesn't dither and slip somewhere between partially locked and full locked if its not desireable

On most of them vehicles I slip the tcc a touch to make it 'more peppy' as they are pretty under powered for such a heavy vehicle

I see two sets of slip tables. The first is simply labeled "TC Slip in X Gear". Regardless of the gear, the function has a X axis range of 0 to 250 with a unit label of TQ. The Y axis is 78 for all cells and the unit is NONE. Since third and fourth gear are no different, but they act different in the car, I assume this isn't it.

The second set of tables is "TC Steady State Slip in X Gear". Again, regardless of gear, all tables are the same. X axis is MPH, Y axis is volts. Everything is zero in the table.

What am I missing?
