Warm decel stall

Unread postby RClements95 » Tue Jun 26, 2018 6:35 pm

In tunepro rt with the A9L2, what table should i be adjusting for idle and off idle fuel cells??? my MAF curve is solid and my IPSIBR is between 0.000-0.050 at a warm stable idle. The car starts and finds idle perfectly but after driving it a couple miles, coming to a stop or stopping and then idling, it will jump between lean and pig rich then stall. I think it would be the fuel cells but im not sure. Any input?

Also when using fuel error% to dial in the maf do you have to force closed loop when hitting each individual mafv?

fuel has nothing to do with dashpot which is air

there is no idle and off idle fuel cells

from what you deacribe it sounds like closed loop is trying to correct too fast, go change the hego delay table to all 20 to slow down closed loop corrections

all u have to do is make sure its in closed loop at that mafv

Alright just took it for a drive with the change that you suggested and still having the same issues. Once the ECT gets to about 170 degrees it continuously wants to stall on clutch in and decel/stop.

Also my datalogger in tunerpro is not showing anything on the gauges but it says it is logging in the bottom bar, any thoughts on that? That just started this time out.

Well i cleared the KAMs by unhooking the battery and redid the base idle reset to verify the IPSIBR and now it wont even let me turn the throttle stop screw down low enough to set the idle. It just surges 700-1300 and stalls and the wideband AFR is reading like 8-10 the whole time so im kinda at a loss on this one. Mechanically ive checked over everything. No vacuum leaks, distributor is at 10BTDC, fuel pressure is at 39psi, so im not sure. Can't even get her to idle doing the base idle reset now.

Scratch that i had a d*mn plug wire laying on the header so i swapped the wires out and that fixed that issue. Base idle is reset now. I will try to mess with the dasmin a little and see if it helps. Thanks decipha.

yea that'll do it, np have fun

btw, if it was reading that rich at 8-10 with a misfire it will read excessively richer now that its firing on all cylinders

make sure you get your idle fuel dialed in before attempting to dial in dashpot or idle

OK, so i've read the fuel write up a million and one times and "thought" i had a good understanding of it. Maybe i do not haha. I have an MTX wideband hooked up on the car, i plugged in the FOX MAF for 36# inj. and im using trickflow 36# injectors which i used the exact numbers off of efidynotuning and put them into tunerpro. Whats the best steps for me to dial in the idle fuel.

Also the MAF that I originally purchased was the ProM calibrated for 24#. If im understanding correctly on the site, it makes no difference, I just put in the numbers for the FOX MAF for 36# inj correct?

Sorry for all the questions and thanks for all you do for the community.

no that's incorrect

the maf is no longer calibrated when you tune it, you put in the actual maf transfer

read this it'll be clear

So i put into tunerpro the MAF transfer for the FOX 36# MAF. Is that correct to do or should i be scaling numbers based off of the original flow of the stock MAF with my new injectors?

maf has nothing to do with injectors

put in your actual maf transfer for the meter you have

put in your actual injector data

why not? if the maf is calibrated for 36lb injectors then it has a published known curve on the homepage

if its calibrated for 24s then its curve is on the homepage

im not trying to confuse you im trying to help you. If you have a calibrated maf then it has a known maf curve, just simply take the maf curve and copy it from the homepage right in to your tune.

injector size has no affect on the maf curve

maf calibration only relates to injectors on a stock tune, once you have the ability to tune the ecu the maf calibration goes out the window and you use the actual maf curve

No i appreciate it, I confused myself because i thought i would use the 36# MAF because those are the size injectors i have in the car. What you are saying makes perfect sense now. But i copied in the 24# MAF and it starts and idles good now its just super lean everywhere (idling and driving) so am I know just going to use my fuel error% and adjust the flow points?

Alright so i have tried to get a good mafv drive in today and the car is running super lean. The longer i drive it the leaner it seems to be. On take off from a stop its lugging super hard it seems like its starving for fuel on acceleration. Any adjustments i can make to have it driveable enough to get a mafv drive in?

Also in tunepro how do you transfer datalogs onto the forum to be viewable for you guys? That way you can maybe see whats going on instead of me sounding like a dummy trying to explain it haha.

Thanks guys.

So figured it out today, finally! Got some good drive time and it kept wanting to stall out at stops. Checked the IPSIBR and it was like .600 after i had made sure it was set <0.050 so i reset it, drove it a couple miles and it was up again. Come to find out it was the POS throttle stop screw backing out while driving. Put some thread locker on that boy and now it drives like a dream!

Thanks a ton for the help man.

Yeah man could not believe it. I bought it brand new so im sure it probably had one and must have just backed off or something.

Quick question tho, now that my fuel is dialed in, when i first start the car even after it's fully warmed up, the idle will hang around 1600 and very slowly come down and finally reach idle after about 2 minutesish. Is there something i can adjust to have it drop quicker, especially after its already warm so it does not hang for so long?
