V6 MAF ECM options

Unread postby neald » Thu May 17, 2018 1:50 pm

Hello, I'm looking for some ECM options with MAF to control my bronco II 2.9v6. trans control is not important. Important are TunerproRT support(xdf, bin and adx
availability). I can swap repin if necessary. I am currently using a ECM configured for six cylinder operation using BE and Quarter horse. I just want to get away from the BE and bugs and registration. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

why do u want to get rid of the speed density setup? Ive tuned them broncos before with no issues.

If your wanting to swap to maf you might as well go coil on plug and spark edis ignition on it. You can make amy ecu work just depends on what all u want to do to get there.

How did you tune these? I didn't think there was any support for the bronco II? Remember this is the 2.9 V6 bronco II, the same platform basically as the 2.9 V6 ranger. If TunerproRT has the xdf's, bin's and data logging for it I'm interested.
Im currently running a cbaza eec converted to MAF with a full def configured for 6 cyl operation using B.E. I would like to use a v6 ECM that is supported by Tunerpro. I don't want to go back to B.E. I want to keep it simple but still have MAF and tuning capabilities

I write the support. In fact i just tuned an 89 bronco II v6 w/ a4ld just last month. Yes im well aware of the platform.

If u want to stay maf have it already set up why not use cbaza with tunerpro?

Oh cool! Last time I was tuning on the vehicle was last summer. None of this was available then. The u4po def didn't have the scalars to enable 6cyl use. I was able to do it with B.E. because I bought the definition that was fully broken out. The one in tunerpro at the time did not have the scalars for it. Are you saying that it will work for me now?

no idea what your talking about, its always been available, all u had to do is ask

just simply read your existing tune off the qh right in to tunerpro and continue on, no need in erasing your current tune or double working yourself

If you don't mind me asking, what did you have to tune on a Bronco 2? How did it turn out?

I dont understand what your asking? I tuned the ecu.

that specific one from the other day was a bronco II swap in to a pinto, he swapped the A4LD trans and all. 42lb injectors, head cam and intake work along with all emissions stuff gone

does that help? I dont fully get what your asking, regardless if it was bone stock you still tune it just as you would anything

If you give me a couple days, I can grab X1L from a 3.0 (which is MAF/BAP) and see if my def works on it (similar hardware code)

I may just leaving it and finish the tune. Just haven't much time to work on it and figured a actual v6 MAF ECM would get me closer to tuned state quicker and easier than dealing with B.E. but since you said the full xdf is on the site I'll stick with cbaza.

all ford ecu's are the same, there's no reason why any one would be more or less optimal for any setup, just simply dial it in regardless

yep dex originally made the cbaza xdf, i took over it use it for the vehicles i tune

Just thought of this. My be def is a .cry which I think uses a beb file instead of a bin. Is beb an encrypted bin? So I think I may have to create a new bin for the xdf in tunerpro.

BTW since you tuned on a 2.9 V6. Do you have the stock injector specs? I input guesstimate specs into hi/lol slopes, timing vs voltage and offset. I was also wondering since I have an 05 MAF can I utilize the Incorporated IAT? If so would I need to modify the IAT transfer function in the tune?

its a single slope strategy

ahisl 13.968
minpw 0.702

fn367 - inj offset
15.94 1.063
15.00 1.063
13.00 1.406
12.00 1.688
11.00 2.063
10.00 2.594
8.00 6.656
0.00 7.969
0.00 7.969

yep sure can, i always use the IAT on the maf when available and highly recommend it

nope no need to modify the transfer

Question... Those injector offset values you gave me 2 posts up are 25% greater than the values I currently have loaded. After loading these new values will I need to reduce my entire MAF transfer flow by 25% as well?

no, because that percentage of pw will fade as the PWs increase so it will not be a global correction

thats a pretty sizeable contribution, If it were me I would take everything below 2 mafv and multiply it by .75 then take blend it to a correction of 1 by 3.25 mafv to blend it out so the maf curve isn't jagged, then just dial it in

By the way you describe it fading away sounds like maybe can make it up between low slope and breakpoint setting maybe?
