Luxury ECU wiring questions

Used only on the 03/04 Marauder but can be used on any 03/04 ecu with code changes. Uses newer style SCP array so will not control cluster correctly on 2004 and older fords that use the older style SCP array such as mustangs.

Luxury ECU wiring questions

Unread post by dleach1407 »

So now that the truck chassis has been rewired, I am on to the ecu. I printed out the ecu pinout but I am running into a few items I am unsure what they are.

8 - FRT
10 - MAP (does the luxury ecu normally use a MAP sensor?)
37 - TFT
55 - KAP 12+ (constant power?)
65 - DPFE
81 - EPC
92 - Bo0o/BPP SW

Is the 99-00 cam sensor the only one supported by the luxury ecu? I have the stock 96 explorer one currently installed. Need to ensure if I need to swap it for a different sensor. Also, Does the required cam sensor get 5v or 12v reference voltage? I dont see the ref/ground for the cam sensor, only the signal back to the ECU.

correct you need the newer vr sensor

fuel rail temp - unused
yep map sensor - unused, its not what you think anyway
trans fluid temp - unused unless you have a 4r70w. You can use this for iat1 for pre blower temps if youd like to be able to log it.
keep alive power yes 12v+ from the battery
dpfe is for egr input, this is used for the wideband 0-5v output
electronic pressure control for the trans, only used for 4r70w trans
brake on off switch is an input to know when you hitting the brake to unlock the torque converter for autos again not needed unless you run a 4r70w and still then isn't needed.

it does not get power as its not a hall effect its a variable reluctance so it generates an a/c voltage

Thanks, I am running a 4r70w

Rock Auto shows both a 2 wire and 3 wire sensor. Im assuming its the 2 wire. Can I use the lower half from the 96 or do I need to replace the whole thing? What is the second connection at the sensor? 1 obviously connects to the computer. Im sure there are going to be other connections I will need explanation on. I figured the Map sensor was used like the 87-93 mustangs used the map sensor I believe for BAP. I live at high altitude and wouldnt mind corrections for BAP changes since I plan on driving it cross country and up into the mountains so severe elevation changes will happen. It may be worth running assuming thats what its for.

best and easiest to just use the entire new setup from a 99-01 explorer 5.0 as the tang might be a little different.

no the map just like a bap sensor is useless since the maf already corrects for it.

What is the other wire connected to on the sensor?

7 - Alternator What function does this serve?

the cam sensor has two wires that go to the ecu

thats for the alternator voltage regulator which you aren't using

The pinout only lists one pin 85 as cam. I've looked several times and can not find a second cam connection

I've even checked other diagrams, all of them show one ecu pin for the cam signal...

What are the following pins for and are the needed?

17 - RX (if obd2 which pin)
18 - TX (if obd2 which pin)
41 - Alt low charge (low charge light?)
45 - alt field control (my alt runs through the body harnesses)
43 - fuel level
44 starter relay (my starter is direct off the ig sw)

Can I add a knock sensor to a sbf, I've read trucks had them screwed in to the back of the block right behind the intake manifold.

I plan on running an AOD speed sensor and using a speedo cable to run the factory speedo. The aod sensor also has an electronic connector. Can/does that need to be connected to the computer, not sure if it's compatible.
