Surging issue

Unread postby Bad86capri » Wed Sep 21, 2016 5:17 pm

I'm finally getting the idle dialed in on my car after chasing wiring issues with the maf. The problem now is when i first start it it surges and i have to hold my foot on the gas to get it to settle out. And then it'll idle. If i blip the throttle a little it immediately starts surging again and i have to settle it out with my foot on the throttle. Any ideas?

I am running the a9l2 with mechanical idle control. Not sure what the isc duty cycle is. Im really new to tuning the isc. It's all a big learning curve. I did notice that when divided fn1861 by 6 that it didnt change to what it supposed to which i believe is .172 on top cells.

Yeah, it should be 0.172 on top cells.

Isc duty is basically how much the isc is having to work to keep the car idling. It sounds like you may have the throttle stop to far closed. Log ispibr and make sure it falls within range. The idle write up is a really good place to start. Read through that and if something doesn't make sense, just post back up

Ok. I did notice that when i was letting the car idle the ispibr never got off of .00000 even when I adjusted the idle screw and waited several min for the change to take effect.
How do i log just one parameter?

if your using the a9l2 then the top cell of the isc multiplier is already .172

what did you divide by 6 ?

if it needs more air then go kick up the cell in the isc multiplier table

I was going by the mechanical idle right up. I opened up fn1861 i believe. I highlighted all the cells and divided them by 6. So I'm assuming that this is already done on the latest version of a9l2 and i shouldn't have followed that step? What should that table look like?
I'm really close to being able to finally start dialing in my fuel and enjoying my car. I still need to wire in my plx wideband to pin 27 so i can compare lambse to the wideband. But that's another day.

why would you want to log separate parameters?

The other gentleman said to log the ispibr. So I assumed you could you log individual parameters if your focusing on one thing. It's not uncommon to log individual parameters just didn't know if you could do it with Tunerpro.

Just downloaded the a9l2 as a sample for comparison. Copied and pasted the fn1861 to my tune and started like dream! Still is lean on tip-in. And surges just for a second but not bad. What's the best way to fix the lean tip-in?

lean tip in can be fuel or transients, make sure you have your fuel dialed in first then go play with the aem scalar

yes, you can dial in the maf to get the fuel dialed in

I hadnt any free time to look at the log maybe someone else may chime in

for idle theres only 3 factors that can cause instability

spark, make sure saftot doesnt make large jumps

fuel, make sure both hegos and the wideband report stoich

Iscdc, make sure it desnt fluctute wildly

Ipsibr + isckam, will tell you your idle air error when at a warm stable idle

Quick question - why does FN1861 time scale go 0 . . . 13107 . . . 75 . . . .

That 13107 makes the multipliers in that row get ignored, right? So it uses the 0 row at startup, then runs that until 75 seconds and switches to that row?
