Knock control in A1C

Ford had knock sensors on a lot of these trucks, especially the 4.9 sixes. However, I'm not sure when it started. My 1995 has one. I was just thinking that I don't remember seeing any parameters in A1C for knock sensor input to timing control. It also just dawned on me that I'm running a solid lifter cam in an engine with a knock sensor installed. It's conceivable to me that the normal valve noise inherent to a solid lifter cam could be triggering the knock sensor.

Am I missing something in A1C? Or was it too early of a strat to have knock control? Or did the V8s not have a sensor?

You will have to use sub2 if you want knock control. If you have a manual trans j1x is also an option. Those strats need some work but a lot has been done. The 4.9 knock hardware and code is totally different.

Well, mostly I just don't want A1C pulling timing because the knock sensor hears my solid lifter valve train clattering away. I have no evidence this is actually happening, but I'm also not sure I would recognize it if it was. What does disconnecting the sensor from the harness accomplish?

Sorry I can’t read. In that case don’t bother unplugging. Just make sure it is turned off in the tune. Set kihp to 0
