CRAJ0 whats needed to tweaked for cams

Unread post by redtopracer »

Like the title says, looking for some input as to what needs to be tweaked to get cams idling ok in a 4.6 2v.

Is it really as simple as playing with idle air/fuel?

idling itself requires nothing

its getting back to idle that can cause issues. That's all dashpot.

Car refuses to idle without help.

So your saying that the idle issue isnt related to the tune needing tweeked for the cams?

make sure your iscdc is below 30% at a warm stable idle.

Most likely you didn't open the throttle stop enough when you installed the cam.

Well you were correct my iscd is at like 40% at idle. Opening the stop screw helped.

How do I go about reducing my iac duty cycle? This shit sticks in my head like eggs on a fresh nonstick.

Anytime you put a larger cam in a vehicle you need to open the throttle stop to give it more air to idle correctly.

You didnt open it enough for the cam, you need to open it up more.

The iac duty cycle is the amount the iac is open. The ecu opens the iac to give the engine more air to idle correctly. If the iac duty cycle is higher than 30 that means the throttle stop is too far closed so the ecu is opening the iac valve more than it should just to reach idle.

Open the throttle stop more and your iac dc will be lower.
