the pcm has no control of spark at all, it only send out the spark request to the distributor. Without the ecu in the vehicle the ignition with still fire properly and run no problem.

After everything. I feel like a goon… It turns out the coil was bad. I tested it previously using an multimeter and it seemed fine. It was sending out pulses to the dust. Replaced it anyway and no change. Put the original one I had in it back in. Decided after checking a dozen other things to pull out my ancient vantage graphing meter and low amp probe and double check the current ramp at the coil. It wasn’t showing a proper graph (extended “on” and didn’t have a proper cutoff. Replaced it with one from oreillys and its textbook. So the “new parts are bad parts” gremlin steered me the wrong direction.

Fired up after a few cranks..

Put in the “new to me” computer with the QH so I don’t have to second guess my old one with leaky caps and she’s ok. May take a few trips to smooth out the cranking again but I appreciate the help.

Feel free to delete this. I’ll go back to my tuning thread for anything else Michael. Thanks!
