SCT X4 for 07 F-150

For all other non specifically listed ECU tuning. This would include can-bus ecu's such as powerpc copperhead tricore and siemens ecus. As well as GM, Dodge or any aftermarket controller tuning etc...

SCT X4 for 07 F-150

Unread post by Apex »

Have the opportunity to snag an SCT X4 flashing device for my 2007 F-150, future plan for the truck is a Department of Boost GT5.4 supercharger kit and Stainless Works Long Tubes + catback exhaust.

Is the X4 worth picking up, or just sell it off with the locked out phasers it comes with (absolutely no plans to lock phasers) to fund towards something else like PCMFlash and a J2534 module?

pcmflash and goose is ideal for multiple vehicles or when you need to read and write directly

if its just one vehicle then an xcal is fine

Turned out the guy on Craig's had literally no idea what he had. He was selling used timing components from a 5.4 3v someone shot the parts cannon at before switching to OEM components (from what I gathered). He posted the wrong part number from freedom racing with no photos of what he actually had in the box. Still tried claiming stuff was new after I pointed out the rust, engine oil, and other signs that these were probably the original components out of the truck. Worst of all? No X4.

I may go the PCMFlash and Mongoose route for the long-term investment, don't really have any plans to sell current vehicles, but may end up with more.

Any idea if the Mongoose will function as a pass-through for stuff other than Ford? I know that typically manufacturers will only give support if your J2534 is "officially supported" even if the issue has nothing to do with the J2534. This would help justify the purchase for the little bit of mobile-mechanic stuff I've been doing on the side. I assume since it is a J2534 device it should work with at least some other manufacturers, but can't see anything definitively saying it does or doesn't, even if it is "unofficial" support.
