EEC-IV Data Output Link (DOL) - Tripminder

Unread post by wwhite »

Background: I making the interior of my truck stock, originally came with Premium Sound, amp is still installed original stereo long gone.
So I purchased Premium Sound CD player off ebay,, from a 1997 Contour or Mystique, same looking stereo, but unfortunately there is no clock on this stereo.

Ok, long story short, I need a clock, so I find Tripminder from the 1989-91? Super Coupes(thunderbird). These cars EEC-IV have Pin#34 puts out Data output Link(DOL) the DOL_COUNT for the Tripminder.

My EEC-IV has both Data Communications Link(DCL) and DOL enabled in the calibration, LINK_SW = 07H.

Question are:
1- The DOL_PULSE_CALC_COM3 code exists in my strategy, how is the DOL_COUNT output on pin #34?
2- Is this automatically output on pin #34 or do I have to enable it somehow?

Going to wire up the pin tonight, which may answer my question 2.

its a toggled on/off digital pin to make a pulse like a duty cycle represenative of fuel consumption.

if its already enabled and the hardware exists then good to go

What I really want to do is avoid running 'another wire'.
I would like to tap into a wire if exists that is not used.

My truck has harness for 4x4 and Low in the dash, even though it is 2wd.

Does one of the 4x4 or Low switch wires go directly to the ECU/PCM/EEC?

There's code for 4x4 Hardware Present(_HP),
but is there a pin on the computer that corresponds to a wire that goes to the switch on the dash?
Or does that pin go directly to the transfercase?

Hardware chip does not exist on SD-4x.
Looks like it exists on Ranger/Explorer computers, not mine.

I can see the chip on EFI-MA46G hardware.
