Can a 1988 Ford Mustang GT AOD ECU (8LF) be tuned?

Unread post by Maroonsn95 »

Basically what the title says. Can the 8LF ECU found in 1988 aod mustang GTs be tuned using a Quarter horse? If so, how far? Small supercharger? Biggerer injectors?? Thanks!!!

I believe that is the speed density tune in the home page. It's different from tuning a MAF computer but it's tuneable.

I believe it can be. Honestly most people switch to MAF based computers. I have never tuned a speed density ecu so I dont know for sure. I would wait for Decipha or someone who is running speed density to verify.

I do have an A9P and the stuff to swap over to mass air, but honestly, it would be nice not having to worry about MAF failures and pegging out if possible. Not to mention the car runs awesome speed density, but it is bone stock. Lol

The MAF system in fords is pretty bullet proof. I dont think i have ever had a maf failure on any of my cars. You really dont have anything to worry about. With turbo I would much rather have a blow thru slot maf than try to run a factory speed density computer but that is just me

On the cross reference site, I found at the very bottom "80s speed density mustangs require a premium membership."
