Can I convert from a F3 adapter and chip to a Quarterhorse and retain current tune??
I purchased a very nice 1993 Mustang LX 5.0, 5 speed vert last year. The engine is currently bone stock from intake to oil pan with long tubes, an off road H pipe and Flowmaster catback. It also has a Vortech V1 s trim on it with a 3.6 pulley on it and currently makes approx. 5 psi of boost. It was dyno tuned with an F3 adapter and custom chip by Realspeed in Long Island, NY prior to my ownership. I will be upgrading the heads cam and intake manifold soon with (Ford Racing x2 heads, custom cam by FTI, Gt40 tubular intake and 70mm throttle body. The car currently runs excellent on the tune that Realspeed did but I realize that I will need to have the car retuned for the new combo as well as a smaller pulley and additional boost. My questiion is, can my current chip be read and the tune/settings be installed onto a Quarterhorse? I would like to have the car remote tuned in the future since returning to Realspeed is a tremendous inconvenience for me. Thanks in advance for the responses.

yeah absolutely

you'll need a jaybird to read the chip and write that file to the qh and you can actually log it and do what you want with it currently to see just how well its tuned as well.

Ok great. I guess the first step is to purchase those 2 pieces of hardware. Is there anything else that I'll need? Does the Quarterhorse support/come with instructions for wideband integration to allow for proper datalogging of AFR? I have a new Spartan 3 wideband to use. I would actually prefer to have a remote tune done but I guess it couldn't hurt to have a basic understanding of how this stuff works. I've been running PimpXS (megasquirt based) ECUs for over ten years but have noticed since I purchased my current car with a chipped factory ECU that it seems to do lots of little things much better. Thanks in advance for the information.

tunerpro logs the wideband automatically all you have to do is wire in the 0-5v output to the egr input wire

Very, very good. I'm going to make a commitment to going in this direction by selling off the PimpXS that I had sitting on the shelf and then purchase the new hardware that you suggested. I'm thinking a good plan would be to "clone" my current calibration onto the QH and then work off of that for my new H/C/I set up, since all of my hardware (MAF, injectors etc) are already working properly on my current tune with the stock long block and ~5psi of boost. Does this sound plausible?

yeah no problem if its running good as is then i would definitely yank the file off and log it to see how well its really running

Well, the initial steps of this endeavor are complete. The PimpXS and widebands have been sold off and the Jaybird and Quarterhorse have been ordered. I do have a few wideband questions though. As luck would have it, I still have an AEM inline wideband set up from when I had my 03' Cobra remote tuned. I have done some research regarding wideband integration (Leech Motorsports videos) and see that the input from the wideband goes to pin 27 (EVP sensor). Does the wideband need to stay connected after the car is tuned? When I did my Cobra a made a rig with a cigarette lighter power supply to power the wideband and removed it when the tuning was complete. Figuring I could do something similar by depinning pin 27 and running a wire (with the correct ecu pin) into the glove box that I could connect to the wideband when needed and then disconnect and remove the wideband when no longer needed. Is this doable? I'm a minimalist when it comes to aux gauges and unnecessary stuff installed in the car. Thanks again.

My Jaybird and Quarterhorse have finally arrived after some UPS shenanigans delayed it an entire week. In any event, I'm looking for guidance on how to "clone" my chip and install the calibration onto the QH. I have no idea how to begin. I have downloaded the TunerPro software though.
