U4PO swap on Bronco II.. Is Evap solenoid needed?
Hello everyone. I haven't posted here in a while. I have a question on my evap system requirements because they may need to changed for my current setup. I have a fairly stock 1989 Bronco II with its original 2.9L v6. I did however replace the stock eec with a U4PO running with the U4P2 XDF converted to Sequential injector fire and 05+ MAF. My question I thought recently is about my evap system being controlled slightly different from the stock Bronco configuration vs. the U4PO evap configuration.. The bronco II configuration has no purge solenoid like the 94/95 mustang seems to. it seems this would cause maybe a pirated air leak at times. am i correct about this? And is it recommended to put a purge solenoid from the eec design that I'm using? Sorry for the long post, I just wanted to be thorough.

I just want to clarify if I was vague.. I don't want to eliminate the EVAP system. I just want it to be correct in the tune and have the system operating as it should with the ecm upgrade.

im not sure how the evap functions on the bronco 2
if theres no purge solenoid then how is the ecu controlling it?

It just seems to be direct vacuum supply to the EVAP canister, and from the canister to the tank and possibly a vented gas cap. So I'm (assuming) it's a vacuum leak programmed into the tune on the broncoii?

if thats the case then its a controlled leak so all you do is dial it in and it gets baked in to the air model.

Awesome man. That is the answer I was looking for. I appreciate it. I just didn't want to do that if it was the wrong thing. Is there any other function in the tune that needs to be turned on or off for this?. Anything controlling the EVAP purge solenoid?
