Idle problems with AC on

Unread postby fernando_221 » Sun Sep 17, 2017 3:56 pm

Hello all,

I have a turbocharged Ford Focus (2.0 Duratec), I'm using SCT to tune it and I'm trying to get a solid idle. With AC off the idle is good, if I turn AC on the idle start to go up and down. The idle rpm is set to 850rpm, when I turn on the AC it starts to oscilate from 500 rpm to 1000rpm, it's very annoying. If I apply load to the power steering it gets even worse and sometimes stalls.
I run ethanol, the camshafts are stock, Siemens 60lbs injectors and a Cosworth intake manifold.

Can anyone help? I posted this at SCT Forum but no response yet.
Below I posted a log, at TS 100 I turn on the AC and you can see how the idle changes.

Hi Decipha, I think I don't have a specific function for the a/c, here is what I have for idle:

I'll contact them and ask to add the functions, thanks.

Is there anything I can do to improve the idle until sct add the functions?

Thank you

Is there a definition for my ecu? Strategy is WNCDAQ4. If not, how can I create it? Is it possible to tune my ecu with TunerPRO or Binary Editor?

Hows your Idle air integrator doing at idle? whats your IAC duty cycle? I've done a lot of Fords with SCT and have used the A/C neutral adder or drive adder with no problems, but IAC duty cycle and Idle adder have to be in check. I've also seen the load points change, and switch up timing pretty aggressively, so watch that as well.

Please take a look at my log, it has idle air integrator and IAC duty cycle, at TS I turn on the AC.
IAC duty cycle is around 0.25 and integrator at -0.07.

I think I have good news, I think the idle problem was caused by a high min injector pusewidth.

It was at 1.4ms (0.00039) and now I set it to 0.5ms and all issues are gone, idle is perfect. The spec sheet for Deka 60 says 1.5ms and I was told by some tuners to don't go below 1.3ms. Is there any problem to use 0.5?

i always set minpw to 0 in all my tunes

the siemens deka data is the absolute pulsewidth, you have to subtract the injector offset from that value

Ive never had a problem just setting it to 0

Hey there,

With minpw set to 0 the idle is much better but I still have issues with idle and ac on.
Is this related to idle air? Spark? This is very annoying. I'll post a log soon.

Here is a video:
