DASPTO vs DASMIN

Unread postby 89FiveOh » Fri Mar 02, 2018 4:22 pm

Hello,
Can someone be specific on where to start first regarding high rpm de-clutch or the dreaded engine conk coming to a stopsign? No theory on the matter but just plain and to the point.

My current scalar setting:
DASPTO= 0.0901 lb/min
DASMIN= 0.0938 lb/min

Dashpot decay:
0.75 - 0.0625
0.64 - 0.0449
0.45 - 0.0071
0.35 - 0.0020
0.062 - 0.0029

While idleing, rpm settles in nicely
Declutching coming to a stop, falls so fast it cant catch it.

Is the Y-axis the time part of the decay?
Is the X-axis the amount to decay each time interval?

How would you pros adjust if er’thing else in the tune is on point?
How bout FN824 - ISC GAIN MULTIPLIER vs RPM?

Thanks in advance.

And one other thought.
Whats the cause of the sudden rapid rpm drop while coming to the stop? I would suppose the TB closing literally creates a vaccum which has a binding effect on the rpms and chokes it out. The addition of the ISC air simply eases the vacuum bind. Kinda like sticking your hand on a vacuum hose and then removing it. Surely its mainly the air thats the maintaining factor in a declutch scenerio and fuel is basically being abandoned?

Is DASPTO the ‘air’ that keeps it from choking down?
More DASPTO = faster RPM speed to overcome the vacuum conk

the dashpot write up on the homepage will give u all the info u need

for starters, go set damin to .35 so it has more dashpot on decel

go divide the dashpot decay by 2

that should fix it to let u start dialing in dashpot

Exactly the reply I asked for. Thanks.

No insight on the scenerio I mentioned above? Does a declutch scenerio conk the engine because of the rpm robbing force of the vacuum caused by closed throttle and the ISC doesnt supplement enough air to overcome it?

So when I add more DASMIN, its the additional air required to offset the vacuum force?

no has nothing to do with the throttle or vac its simply mechanics, an engine needs dashpot to maintain stability
