Overheat protection questions

Unread postby yeastieBoB » Fri Nov 10, 2017 9:23 pm

The A9L2 Base Calibration topic says "Overheat protection shuts off the engine when your engine temp exceeds 240 degrees and allows 12 seconds of run time after restart so you can move the vehicle if need be"

When does overheat protection allow the engine to start again (aside from the 12 seconds)? When ECT is below 240? That would make sense, but I don't want to assume.

Overheat protection prevents the engine from running by cutting off fuel? Is that correct? I'm trying to understand what behavior I should expect, so I can recognize if overheat protection occurs.

This is a kick ass feature, by the way. Really provides a little piece of mind for me, especially since I sometimes forget to turn my radiator fan on.

yes it kills fuel, youll see the fuel table commands 1.992 lambse over 240 degrees, the startup enrichment table i have set to add 1.172 to lambse for the first 10 sec, it interpolates to 0 (=1.992) at 20 sec so roughly 12-15 sec of run time

you can start it infinitely times when its got, it will just keep shutting off after 15 sec, after the 3rs or 4th time youll very easy know its doing it on purpose with the temp gauge pegged out

yea ive saved several engines with it including many of my own

At what point does the protection end? What clears it?

I think I triggered overheat protection and I'm having a hard time restarting the car. It is still shutting off after the 12-15 seconds. This is happening with an ECT of 152*.
