I just picked up a 95 F150 4.9 4x4 auto this past weekend. Im already using a quarterhorse on my 86 Capri but i was wandering if there would be any benefit tuning this 4.9. This is not a hotrod or woods truck but just a daily.

I've had a lot of fun tuning on my 91 f150 4.9. The stock 14lb injectors will need to be upgraded to support any additional HP. I am running 80lb injectors and e85 on mine. The 4.9 really likes the high octane and additional timing. I am tempted to advance my cam to straight up from the stock 4 degrees retarded. I recently completed a valve spring a 1.73 ratio roller rocker upgrade here: http://fordsix.com/threads/ordered-the- ... 943/page-3

It's a completely different and fun experience driving this truck now.

Thats awesome! i dont plan on modifying this truck at all. i was looking more drive ability and maybe a little added torque from a better timing curve.

If drivability is an issue make sure you check the capacitors in the ECU for leakage. My truck ran terrible until I replaced them.

I haven't drove the truck yet, still have to replace brake lines and install the new tank. I was thinking in terms of my fox, adding the QH and tuning it made a big difference in drive ability over the factory tune. If doing the same to truck then it would be worth it but if theres no real benefit then ill save my money and spend it on something else.

Yeah not much to gain with a good ECU. The stock tune is nigh perfect in my opinion.
