How much of advantage is it going to a holley system Vs tuning stock computer?

I have people in my ear that sware it's the only way to go. Lol trying to tell me all the benefits are better the stock computer. That it's well worth the 2k

unless you need the other options and features it has to offer then it wont make absolutely any difference, it won't make any more power than the ecu you have now

all the engine cares about is the AFR and Ignition Timing it gets, it doesn't matter if gets .75 lambda and 36 degrees from the stock ecu, a holley, a carb, a midget locked under the hood, or from god himself, it'll still perform the exact same

people push the aftermarket ecu's because they're 'more user-friendly' it doesn't take a ford engineer to 'successfully calibrate' one or much know how

That's a great answer! Once the fuel leaves the injector is gonna make "powah" as you say!

thats how I feel, and the best thing about using the factory ford junk is that its everywhere, there is LITERALLY 5 mustang ecu's on craigslist right now for under $50

you'll never be able to score a holley for that price

My "word of mouth" understanding for a Ford dyno tuner guy and others is...stock ECU are good for lower HP engines, once you get into high HP stuff...700-1000 or more HP you need to go aftermarket. Because the stock ecu does not have the speed to handle all the things happening, again, "word of mouth" or hear say! Is this true? or just another myth?

just myth, its not that the ecu cant do it, they just dont know how to make it do what they want

the holley is made for home tuning. with data logs and self tuning, and doesn't need chips to tune.

I get this quite often these days. pretty much from anyone not running factory ECM, or even care to understand one. I have built, wired, and tuned, most aftermarket ECM's, holley, motec, haltec, bs3, mega squirt, currently workin on understanding the I/0 of a pro efi 128 set up.

When I started this game, everyone was taking factory efi off for carburetors, cause it was "faster" and i was fucking them all up with EFI and dry nitrous.20 years later... everyone running fast with holley efi and dry nitrous.

Some of theses same people, now run the EFI because it is "so easy.... to just get a holley!!".... and everyone playing video games with Token systems....only to get pissed off....and trade it all in for a holley.

When I get this question....my response...."why would I want to go backwards?" looks of confusion typically ensue......"going backwards!?!?"

YUp!

Most aftermarket systems are map based/ alpha N, and no calculations in volumetric efficiency. simply put....speed density is a lie. MAF is the truth to all the matters, that are the facts. If an aftermarket system, does not support a maf, it is no better to me....then and OBD1 processor.

now that efi is so easy, women and children are doing it, every one thinks a map bassed efi system is far superior the Mass of Air flow calculation, and frankly that is not true, in all of my experience.

Any aftermarket system, that does not support VE tunning with a MAF sensor, is not worth the down grade to MAP based tuning.

MAF for the WIN.

yeah maf definitely has significant advantages over map and alpha-n.

Speed density has its place when inlet restraints prohibit a maf but otherwise it will always be more accurate to actually measure the air entering an engine than backwards calculating how much air should be entering the engine.

A couple years back Henry dropped MAF and wen't all speed density. I suspect its more a financial reason rather than efficiency or accuracy though.
