Unread postby decipha » Mon Nov 16, 2015 9:40 pm

so I bought my house christmas of 2010, 6 months in my water heater went out so i replaced it with an electric tankless water heater, its been roughly 4.5 years and not an issue until about an hour ago went it just went out, wont come on at all completely dead

so im in the market for a new electric tankless water heater

It looks like the marey 6.5 gph 27kw unit is gonna get my coin

anyone have any experiences with it ?

No reset button anywhere? Do you run a water softener inline before heater? One issue with tankless units is calcium buildup. A conventional water heater often last longer, is less expensive, and has better anodes and larger burners/elements. A tankless unit has to put out many more times BTU's than a tank system to maintain the same temp.
I've had the same electric water heater since 1993. The brand is "State."
My background was in building engineering where I was head of building operations for several 300-400 unit lifecare facilities.

nah no reset button, we have soft water here in new orleans no filter needed

state doesnt make any electric tankless units that i could find

I ended up getting an eco smart from home depot, it was all they had in stock, its the same rating as my rheem but taking a shower last night i had to put the blend on 65% heat where as before 45% was the norm, could have just been a colder night

Ill have a full review in 6 months or so

You're lucky to have soft water. Are's has a lot of iron content and very scaly.

I was saying that my conventional electric water heater is a "State". It has lasted since '93.

I asked about a water softener as they are notorious for eating the inside of water heaters. Salt is alkaline.
