Keys programming / Unavailable option sometimes

Unread postby Pym » Tue Nov 12, 2019 3:30 am

Hi,

I have an issue with a management (more in fact). After a broken transponder and it replacement, I wanted to do a new PATS programming with Forscan, like I usually do.
But option was not available for this car and I have already seen that on the same type of car.
Temporary I have updated rom, to disable PATS check to easily move the car, but this is not the right thing to do.

You will say, just buy a complete ECU, with keys and transponder to replace the old one and this is what I have done.
This ECU is the last revision of the original one, it is working perfectly but has not exactly the same strategy.
All parameters are the same (except speed limiter, which is activated and 2 or 3 other details).

For my knowledge, I have checked if it was possible to do a PATS programming with this one.
Forscan detects 4 different setup, 3 of them do not permit to do the PATS programming, the last one yes, which is strange.
From where are these 4 setup coming from, why PATS programming is not always available, is this related only with Forscan or with something in strategy ?

How to deal with managements, which do not permit to program PATS ?

Thanks
Pym

thats just forscan and the way they have it setup

afaik they only allow pats reprogramming on the ecus theyve tested. so if you have a cal they hadnt tested on to verify it works they dont give u the option.

Ok, it seems more understandable like this.
So, to obtain the good result, my idea was to program PATS on another compatible management,
then to duplicate related VID block part on the target calibration
and finally to do a recovery to put this on the target ECU.

But I have seen a PATS encrypting table, so it will not work without updating it too.

Any simpler method ?

depends on the type of oats it has

in the us the more common eec-v vhehicles used 3 different basic types of PATS

on the 96-04 mustang you simply copy and paste your pats code from the vid block in to another ecu and off you go

on the mark 8 and some of the trucks they use an oddball pats setup with an anti theft switch in the cal.

On the 03/04 marauder and some other premium vehicles they all have the same pats code but the encryption code has to be compatible with the pats module in the vehicle. Many different encryption codes will work and many wont. In my rzasa strategy in tunerpro you can see all of this.

Interesting, because as far as I have seen, European managements are using US core code since 1993.
So it should apply like this too, but it is not so easy to do.

What about misleading Forscan, with a known working strategy code ?

I have observed that if I strategy swap a vehicle I sometimes loose the GEM module configuration and some other vehicle specific configurations.

Forscan sure does do some funky stuff that doesn't make sense to me but can't complain since its free.
