I changed up the homepage sub menus a touch, made them more organized by grouping them together more under the sub menus and started including dates on the strategy and base tune files so you can very quickly see if theres been an update

makes it easier on me too as i can quickly see which version i have on the server at any given time

well enjoy

yea i know the a9l2 download is broken, the cal folder doesnt have an s on it, ill fix it when i get to my laptop

I am new to this whole thing.. Just picked up a Mustang a few weeks ago that had a noise when running. I ordered a set of cams for the car so I will need to tune it. Never have tuned EECV but I am a tech at a Ford dealer and competent in my trade. I have experience using HPTuners 5 years ago when building a turbo kit for a Cavalier.

Anyway my post is getting a bit off topic. Im trying to see/mess around with the interface on TunerPro. I can not download the FBFG2 def file from your website. I did download the BIN files. I also downloaded the RZAS0 xdf. When I load the SYM2 bin and the RZAS0 xdf, all the options in the parameter tree are empty. Maybe I am doing something wrong, but I assume I need the FBFG2.zip file from your website. My browser attempts to download it but gets no response from your server.

Somehow, I figured it out. I copied your naming style from a different link.

Currently your website has it linked to "http://www.efidynotuning.com/xdf/FBFG2%1F_20161212.zip"

Instead of: "http://www.efidynotuning.com/xdf/FBFG2_20161212.zip"

revamped the homepage slightly made it easier to view on a mobile and tossed in a table of contents as was conceived many moons ago but an email from someone who printed out all the write ups and made a table of contents sent an email with an outline that i used as a draft.

I like it overall but have 2 pieces of feedback. the left side with all the links to your awesome write-ups all kind of run together, its hard to tell where one title starts and the next begins. even when you hover over them they dont highlight or anything to stand out from one another. thinking this could make it more difficult for someone new who should be going back to those many many times.

the other is I liked only having to click the forum button once to go direct to the active topics, now with the drop down it takes 2 clicks. this is nit picky i know but its more of a pain if using the smaller screen of a phone.

as always thanks for all you do on here!!!

interesting I too had the same exact thoughts as well.

The left menu I put bullets next to each one but didn't like the way it spaced it. I'm going to just have the title change color when hovered over.

The forum being in the drop is on purpose as I'll be adding additional links to that as well. The plan is to break out a new link to the forum somewhere on the page that makes it obvious as its the heart and soul of the website but not too overbearing or misplaced. Still trying to figure out a good way to do it.

Just gonna throw this out there.. A good CMS does wonders for file keeping and archival stuff.

Been using them for years with success. Integration is simple for a coder too.

CMS is horrible. It uses up way too much memory. Bandwith is the largest problem we have as some people in remote countries only have 56k dial up to access the site.

you can bring the 56k problem to a standstill with a stripped front-end type build, but still have a cms for the backend is my point.

the one ideal would have a wysiwyg editor and work off of chunks and snippets of code, instead of calling html or script for the loading.

I'll look in to it more.

not sure if your webhost has small limits, however i have used the ModX platform forever. Allows for plug-ins for mobile site and all. usually has less impact on my server than phpBB does.

I think your host is GoDaddy, not my preference. For world wide exposure, I would think about Amazon hosting.

Depending on how much you update your pages, and who updates your pages may require a CMS, a good one, not WordPress(blog).
If your worried about bandwidth, I'm surprised you use phpBB.

Your HTML pages need a lot of work. There are lots of errors, and there is major room for improvement.
For starters, you should never use inline CSS, that is slow, and won't cache.
Small things like your SMS phone anchor, are not correct, won't work with all devices.
Things like not having correct html doctype, and or redundant html xml tags would be corrected by using a CMS.

Also, a CMS could enable you to have a multilingual site.

Your first three lines of html on your home page should be more like this:
<!doctype html>
<html lang="en">
<head>

You've got rouge start tags with no closing tags, embedded style tags embedded in them selves.
<style type="text/css">
<style type="text/css">
...

It's kinda a mess, no wonder you have memory and bandwidth issues/concerns.

PM me, and I can give advice and usable tools to help make your homepage more efficient.
Or, we can continue to have the discussion here.

If you want, I could redo your HTML as is, remove all errors, remove all inline csss, and basically make it easier for you to manage.
Let me know.

Yes currently I do. I'm not a fan of amazon but still don't see how that makes any difference for exposure? Are you saying my site isn't accessible in some regions cuz of domain provider?

I update at least once a week usually when I'm offline on my netbook.

The forum and automated pages are the only php I use. Its not a concern since its not usually used for quick reference data.

I use inline css for better organization and when I need to only apply is to that specific div so I don't have to reference it on all other pages in the styles since its not used elsewhere. Makes it easier for me to make changes as well since I don't have to open another file.

I'm fine with the sms link as the number is visible to copy and paste. The link was a last second thought and figured why not.

I'm not concerned with a multilingual site.

The first lines are like that.

<html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml" xml:lang="en">
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
<!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.1//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml11/DTD/xhtml11.dtd">
<head>

I'm defining xml in there as well.

I didn't realize i typed that tag in twice. Deleted it.

No you misunderstood there are no memory or bandwith issues with the site. Some people that view the site have very slow internet and can't pull more than 100kb of data in a reasonable time so the site has to be small so it loads quickly. Hence why any software that doesn't use strict html would pose a problem.

Best to keep the discussions here.

I have a bit more to do to the homepage as I still need to figure out a way to get the forum obvious in there but no over bearing so after I do that and run it through a validator I'll definitely be taking you up on that offer.

decipha wrote:Yes currently I do. I'm not a fan of amazon but still don't see how that makes any difference for exposure? Are you saying my site isn't accessible in some regions cuz of domain provider?

What I'm saying is if your service provider is only in N.America, going with a service provider that has servers all over the world, will provide 'faster' experience for end user. I just had an issue with someone from Bangladesh who has broadband internet, but accessing servers in Canada is 'slow'. So, point being, bandwidth and memory are thrown out, and its all about server location.

decipha wrote:I use inline css for better organization and when I need to only apply is to that specific div so I don't have to reference it on all other pages in the styles since its not used elsewhere. Makes it easier for me to make changes as well since I don't have to open another file.

This is a contradictory statement. Inline css causes disorganization. If you had under 10 pages of html, I would agree, but you have a lot more pages than 10.
For better organization, you put all css into one or more files, then link to it. Name your div's with appropriate class names. Style your class's in your css file.
By having uniquely styled one of div's, your pages will become inconsistent, which becomes disorganized. Your site has many inconsistencies.

decipha wrote: I'm fine with the sms link as the number is visible to copy and paste.

Currently the anchor link looks like this:
Code: Select all
<a href="sms:+15046060532&amp;body=">TEXT</a>

The more correct way:
Code: Select all
<a href="sms:+1-504-606-0532">TEXT</a>

Hyphens make your number human readable, and you don't include 'body' text, so remove the tag.
For copy and paste, let the user do that, now your phone link is not 'clickable'
Currently:
Code: Select all
 | Tele: (504)606-0532

Should be:
Code: Select all
 | <a href="tel:+504-606-0532">Tele: (504)606-0532</a>

I think you deleted the wrong tag. The beginning of page should be:
Code: Select all
<!DOCTYPE html>

I'd forget about the xml and XHTML, many browsers don't get it, so you'll lose users right there.
Unless your comment "Hence why any software that doesn't use strict html would pose a problem."
By software, are you talking about applications other than Web Browsers accessing your web site?

yeah rather than having redundant servers I find its best to just keep the file size small since it becomes irrelevant at that point.

The only inline css is on the homepage where none of that is used in the other pages. Some of the other pages don't even reference the css since its not needed.

I put the body tag there cuz on my mobile when I click it and start typing it goes in the number instead of the body. Makes for one less click for me. May just be my mobile though as its older.

even if xhtml and xml isn't supported none of it would be dropped so thats not an issue

I was referring to a database software for organization not the html tags themselves.

yeah I used to use that validator as well back in the day its been years since I've checked anything.

Thanks for the input.
