Has anyone ever ran a 4r70w or equivelant transmission with a manual valve body while using the A9L? One issue is rpm adder when going into drive/reverse. Any others?

Awesome, I'll try to post back with some specifics once I do the swap. Doing kind of a budget deal. Last thing I need is a converter. Going to try the Mack 1 converter. The Dacco F63 doesn't seem to be readily available anymore so I am going to try the Pro-King FM70 from Oreilly's for $130.

Transmission Code: 4R70W; Code: 93A; Lock-Up; 11.750 Inch Overall Diameter; 10.60 Inch Bolt Pattern; 4 Studs; 3/8-24 Thread; Milled Flats Hub; 1.375 Inch Pilot Diameter; .570 Inch Pilot Length; 31 Spline; 2100-2500 Stall

If all else fails I have a 2004 Grand marquis EEC-V comp waiting...

I had a lot of luck using a CDAN4 EEC-V (JZP3 box) and 4R70W in an old Mustang - I had that thing dialed until the car was totaled. I believe I snagged most of the harness from a late model Crown Vic/Marquis as well.

I'm not sure what you are looking for in a converter as far as stall, but I purchased one off of EBAY a few years ago that I was happy with for a little extra stall on the street, and was till going strong with over 200 quarter mile passes on it.

2200-2600 stall for AODE / 4R70 (Remanufactured)
$165 with free shipping

Seller was "torque-converter", and I just checked and he still has the same converter listed

I recommend spending a few bucks more and getting a ~4k stall from roadrunner converters.

https://www.roadrunnerconverters.com/pr ... 800-stall/

seems they are out of stock
