EQE3 pcm help

For all other non specifically listed ECU tuning. This would include can-bus ecu's such as powerpc copperhead tricore and siemens ecus. As well as GM, Dodge or any aftermarket controller tuning etc...

EQE3 pcm help

Unread post by BOOSTEDEVERYTHING »

My dads truck is swapped with an explorer v8 and we used the eqe3 pcm that was with the engine. I cant seem to get a good quality read on it. when i read it with the deltaforce interface I have it reads as an FLN0 computer with a READ0 stategy. I loaded the posted reac4 strategy and tried to read it with a quarterhorse and tunerpro and I get scrambled data when i try and open the bin file in tunerpro rt. Maybe I need a different definition file? I also read it with burn 1 and get the same scrambled data when i open that read. Please help. Is this one of those premium member type strategy files or does anyone happen to have a strat file for either tunerpro or be? thanks for the help
edit: i tried reading my harley f150 pcm on the bench with a burn 1 and adapters and the bin i pull up in tunerpro is all garbage too, so It dawns on me maybe I dont have something set up correctly somewhere but i have followed the writeup several times.
edit: i followed this post to get the read on the eqe3 pcm posted

Also, all the instructions say to read the pcm with the key off when using the burn 1 with adapters, should i be reading it with the key on instead? thanks
I hope I posted this in the right place. Thanks again for all of your help.

Sorry, I just noticed that the EKO2 bin i posted was read as a 2 bank for some reason, I did actually see some info in that one though, when I read it as a 4 bank I got all 0's, I am going to try to power the pcm to read it with the burn1 and adapters and see what it get that way this evening.

So, I think I got a good read finally. The table values look similar when I pull the tune up in tunerpro to the ones in the Deltaforce software I’ve been using. The only problem I’m having now is that there are no values in the normalizer portions of the tables. So I guess that means that the reac4 def is not going to work for me?

You can delete this thread please. I guess I worked myself through it. Thanks.

So how did you get a read on your EQE3 using TunerPro? I have the same EEC-V in my '00 Mountaineer and the only way I've been able to read and update the tune on it has been by using an old TwEECer RT device I've got with Mike Glover's CalEdit software (recently updated to support this). From what I understand, the EQE3 is a REAC4 strategy.

reac4 and read0 are different strategies

i use read0 on all of them

you can copy over your pats code and use the reac4 if you wish.

reading all eec-v is covered in the getting started write up

Hey Decipha, my EQE3 pcm took a dump on me and I’ve only been able to find one from a 1998 v8 explorer to replace it. The major difference is the cam sensor. 1998 uses a 3 wire sensor and 2000 uses a 2 wire sensor. Is there a way to switch that in the calibration or a way to put the EQE3 firmware into the 1998 pcm? Thanks. I don’t think I’m far enough along in my disassembly to make a good definition file yet so I don’t have anything to look at. I appreciate the help. Just need to get it up and running again. Thanks again.

Ok. I don’t have a read0 strategy to look at. I wasn’t sure if the cam sensor type could be changed on this specific pcm or not. Are you aware?
And the reac4 strategy you have posted doesn’t have much in it to go on either. It doesn’t seem to work on my bin file. It’s all unpopulated in most parts.
