Cat recommendations

Unread postby dleach1407 » Thu Sep 19, 2019 10:25 pm

I am thinking of adding a cat to my car. Ive done some searching and it seems I dont really have a lot of options for 3.5 inch down pipes.
I was thinking of going with something like I listed below but I am not opposed to other options. I want something that wont restrict the exhaust obviously.

Do you recommend against cats on turbo cars? Can I use a diesel cat? There are options that seem to have a much larger catalyst inside which I think would lower restrictions.
I read they are also better at removing NOX. My car is making over 500 at the wheels.

it looks like both are essentially the same. Most oem cats are fine under 600hp but those are platinum $$$. For the price it would be hard not to at least try out that x-force.

If it fails you can toss one of these on

I havent been able to find an OEM application that uses a 3.5 inch inlet/outlet. I agree, the Xforce is so cheap its worth giving it a shot and that is the way I was leaning but it seems too good to be true. I am not opposed to using one of the high dollar OEM style ones but I would need to know what vehicles to start looking at. The only vehicles I know of with that large of an exhaust are diesel and I dont know for sure how well that would do with gas or e85. My research says it will work fine though. The one you suggested seems like a good alternative as well so I will keep that one in mind if Xforce fails.

I will do that.. I dont plan on doing it until the off season. Im replacing the trans cross member to get some more clearance on the exhaust. That is when I plan on adding the cat so I wont really know much until then. I will come back and let you know. Im hoping to dyno it before and after to get an idea of power loss.
