SBF Tps ajustment

Unread postby Cruisin428 » Sun Oct 28, 2018 11:32 pm

My tps is suposed to be set at .97 volts when closed. The only way to get it to that is to turn down the idle screw to about 400 rpm. Looking for options to adjust the tps! Anybody filed the holes to turn it farther or any other options?

It has to be less than 1.25V.
0.97 is not the number unless reprogrammed in your tune.

x2 the closed throttle tps voltage is useless so long as it doesnt exceed RATIV and force PT

Follow up question, will the computer (eec 4 in my case) use the voltage of the tps when it starts moving up for a base line? Or just uses the voltage as the indicator of more or less throttle? I keep thinking how the comp. knows where the throttle is if the voltage is not set at a particular point in the movement of the tps.
I guess i could ask it this way, is the tps just a throttle movement indicator, (i know, stating the obvious) 1.25v= closed or at idle 2v =1/4 throttle etc.
Or it the voltage used in a different way by the computer (2v and so much fuel and we are stoic so im happy regardless of where the throttle actually is)?

every time the key is turned on the ecu uses the lowest voltage it gets and sets that to RATCH.

ratch is the lowest tps voltage since key on

thus, if your tps voltage at closed throttle is 0.7 volts its perfect. If its 1.2 volts its perfect.

as u can see the closed throttle tps voltage is absolutely useless so long that its not forcing part throttle by exceeding the RATIV scalar which has a stock value of 1.25 volts.

The ecu uses TPREL for all throttle related needs such as shifting the trans or setting WOT.

the way it does that is it takes the actual tps voltage and subtracts RATCH from it.

TPREL == itps - RATCH.

itps being the raw tps voltage.

thus TPREL == 0 at closed throttle regardless of what your throttle voltage is.

the throttle position has no affect on fuel. Commanded fuel is based on LOAD. Load is calculated from the mass airflow sensor.

Thanks, now it has come together ! I was figuring there must be some kind of baseline for it. Also, it is so easy to focus on how the tps (or any part) works, you forget about load and the MAF two feet up stream!
