Injectors For 408w

Unread postby chiphaby » Mon May 18, 2020 10:23 am

I just finished building my 408w and I am looking for advise on what might be a good injector that has data for tuning. I currently have FRPP EV6 30 lbs. which will not support the horsepower of the 408w. It was suggested that I turn up the pressure on the 30 lb injectors because the EV6 has better atomization than the old EV1s. I think I would feel more comfortable with say a 42 lb. EV1 injector (with data) running at 39 lbs. than a 30 at 60 psi. Thoughts?

the 30s will be fine would be best to run 65psi of base fuel pressure

other than that I never recommend anything less than the siemens deka 80s from chris at poweraddersolutions

How do I figure the injector HS/LS/BP and offsets at 65 psi? I see you have data for them (BB302) at 55 psi under reference.

Would the high and low slopes be: (original flow rate) x (new pressure / old pressure) and the break point and offsets stay the same?

I'll add the bb302 data at 65psi base to the injector reference page

are you sure you have bb302s ?

They are the red EV6 (slim) injectors with 4 holes in the bottom. I was under the impression that the "fat" injectors were the B302 and the BB302 were the better, slim 30 lb with the 4 holes (better spray pattern).

I used the injector data that you posted (thanks) and adjusted the pressure to 65 lbs. I am using a ProM MAF with 30 points of data. I had been running this MAF and injectors (BB302) on my 351w with no problems. So now all I changed in the tune is the scalar for the engine size (351 to 408), the injector data & pressure. The problem is that when I start it up cold the WB shows it running way lean, then once the adaptives kick in the KAMRFs go quickly up to 1.25 and max out and then the WB shows it running way rich. I've checked and I really don't think there is a vacuum leak, there is no exhaust leak and I find it hard to believe that with known data that this could be this far off. I've shifted the MAF curve and the slopes several percent and it just doesn't seem to make sense. Any ideas? Have you seen where large percentages of change need to be made in situations like this?

This is warming up at idle. I put new O2 Bosch sensors in. Any ideas ?

No other possible explanation than the o2s aren't functioning correctly.

It seems as if it is headed in the right direction now. A friend that know more about this than me messed with the tune; not sure exactly what they did but before when I was data logging it the LOAD and LOADX were the same. Now I see at idle LOAD is about 20 and LOADX is about 30. Don't quite understand it, but it seems much better; only about 6% off.

Disregard the previous statement regarding the LOAD/LOADX; actually I think my cam overlap is throwing my KAMRFs off at idle...232/240 @ 0.50 .574 lift 112-LSA. The overlap is making it think it is lean and continually increasing the LTFT until it starts running really rich like a vacuum leak. Thoughts on the overlap thing? Have you seen this before, I know you have seen every cam out there and much larger ones than this but could I be on the right track? Thanks.
