IAC differences in 03 04 Cobra

Unread postby GT_Rich » Wed Jan 30, 2019 8:09 am

I'm looking for a smaller IAC to remote mount/hide. I currently have a 97 Cobra running CDAN4. The 03 04 Cobra IAC valves are much smaller and it appears they do not use an internal spring on the seat. Do these function they same? Direct swap physically if I change the transfer function?

Thanks,
Rich

yep you can swap it no prob, you don't have to worry about changing the transfer unless you plan on actually dialing it in

The cobra ISC works really well on 2.3 Turbos as well, since they're not vented

Thanks fellas. I picked up a Motorcraft unit on my way home from work. The compact size is a nice feature! Gets me the space I needed.

I'll change the transfer function. Of course I'm going to dial it in. Who on this forum wouldn't?

I was referring to dialing in the isc transfer itself

first you have to have your maf dialed in

then, go set the isc multiplier to 0 and the isc offset to 0 then update, let it idle stable for 10 sec or so and note the airmass, then set the isc offset to 10 and update, let it idle 10 sec and note the average airmass, repeat again at 20 percent, 30 40 50 60 70 80 90 and 98% (should never command 100% iscdc)

then subtract those airmasses from your base airmass at 0 iscdc and you have your isc transfer for fn800

the trick is the engine has to be at warm operating temp and the ac off all loads off and the fan cannot come on during that time which can be a daunting task if you have a mediocre radiator
