AHACB drive engagement RPM

Unread postby ajy113 » Mon Oct 09, 2017 3:42 pm

I'm tuning a 95 F150 with a built 306 using Derek's AHACB Def. Fuel is dialed in and Idle air is as well...I'm idling high at 952 until I get everything happy, she idles great. When I put it into gear my RPM in DRBASE is 952 but I am getting commanded RPM of 848....and so she almost stalls in drive and always stalls in reverse.

I'm trying to figure out what would cause commanded RPM to be 100 rpm lower than DRBASE when put into gear? I dont see anything in the typical RPM adders that would cause this....

Any input would be appreciated.

Believe I found it - ISCLPD was at 848

yes, isclpd is the max rpm clip in gear

its designed to prevent excessive rpms at startup when someone fires it up and tosses it in gear

Got her working - Thanks Decipha

One more for your infinite wisdom....

AHACB with HOG0.....So I've got drive enagagement, idle air, and fuel all dialed in but I am having a hell of a time with idle feedback spark.

I had to adjust the min clip up to keep spark where she's happy. I've got torque reserve at .9 where it should pull -5 degrees with FN799 from the 30 degrees I have in MBT table but it keeps clipping the low limit. Changing my torque reserve scalar doesnt seem to have any effect, nor does the the gain.

Basically, once idle warms up and levels out it hits the low limit clip with no feedback spark....?? I cannot figure out why I cant get this spark to Oscillate at idle with this Calibration...

if its riding the min clip that means its got too much air in it at idle and it can't bring the rpms down low enough with spark to reach dsdrpm

lowering the tq reserve scalar will give you more spark, that scalar is SPK_LOAD_RES

Fn799 in this strat looks like this:

2.000 0.00
1.000 0.00
0.990 -5.00
0.970 -10.00
0.920 -15.00
0.850 -20.00
0.690 -30.00
0.510 -40.00
0.000 -40.00

The lower the value of 'spk load res' the more timing would be pulled from MBT according to this function above

Idling nice around 928 rpm,
MBT about 30 at idle
IPSIBR at .015 with 29% DC, its pretty steady
SPK LOAD RES at .99 but it rides the min clip I have set at 22 degrees with no spark oscillation....

you are mistaken

SPK_LOAD_RES is not the input in to that function

if you have the min clip scalar set to 22 degrees then idle spark cant drop below that

I kept the clip up to keep spark in her

Apologies as my wording above is off.....I'm running off your Idle spark write-up, where it states spk_load_res references FN799

"For example: Lets say your idling at 750rpm @ 16 load, looking in the mbt table we get an interpolated value of ~33 degrees, the scalar
spk_load_res is set to 0.9 which is the torque ratio from MBT the ecu is demanding. It references FN799 Spark MBT Retard for torque
limiting to see how much to adjust the mbt spark to get its desired tq ratio. Lets say 0.9 = -15 in the FN799 function, this gives us an
idle spark of 18 degrees."

spk load res does eventually make its way into fn799 but its not a direct input

in my own defs i modify spk load res so its output is equivalent to fn799s look up for that to be true
