EEC-IV knock sensor

Unread postby SlowBox » Sun Aug 13, 2017 5:41 pm

Is there hardware on any of the fox-compatible EECs for a knock sensor? I'd love to play with a knock sensor on my motor since I don't have access to a dyno.

none that i know of, u can snatch the hardware out of a supercoupe ecu, i wouldnt bother with it though, theres very little knock sensor support in gufx, ud be better off going to a lincoln mark viii or the like ecu that has better knock control but would require edis, at that u might as well swap in an eec-v and go coil on plug with far greater support and controls

a knock sensor is incapable of dialing in spark though

for example, on my marauder at part throttle 1750 rpm and 60 load, I can advance the timing all the way to 35 degrees before it gives any audible knock, the knock sensor starts kicking in at 31 deg, yet it makes max tq/power at only 18 degrees thats with 93, with 87 octane in that cell i only command 8 degrees, i cant recall the exact number but i think it was 43 ft lbs on 93 and 39 ft lbs with 87 octane, its not much power loss driving but is noticeable, i do some trickery with the iacdc on acceleration to give it more throttle so its rly not anything youd notice driving

your best bet would be to just play with it, throw timing around and see if it seems to make it feel more or less responsive, the objective is to run the least amount of timing that gives u the most power

Just looking for an easier way to dial it in on the street. P heads with higher than stock compression are finicky.
