HSF output not working

Unread postby indyhog » Sun Jul 23, 2017 8:59 am

So in a previous post upgraded my fox to a Mark 8 ecu and got it running fine, drove it about two miles. Next upgrade was electric fan and 3g alt, which was setting around for years and parts store checked it out as good. I got every thing wired up correct per the website using pin 32 etc. In BE I enabled the fan, and even tried several temp to turn on but no fan. The wiring is good as I can jump the pin 32 to ground and the fan kicks on problem. Is there something else I need to do?

high speed is usually a positive output, check that first

depending on the year, i thought mark 8s had variable speed fans? if so its a pwm output and youd need the fan controller, thats true for the 98s IIRC

if you feel up to it you can reprogram one of the unused pins for an on/off fan if you want

Finally had a chance look at this again. seems to be working now wired like you show in your site. Not sure what I did, I had just been playing around with different temps and enabled low speed fan.

thata the ticket right there, its actually not the low speed on/off swith, its the fan present switch, if EDF is disabled it bypasses the high speed fan lookup routine

Glad that was it. could you add that to you electric fan write up? It may save someone from posting that question again.

Thanks!
