Electric cooling fan for a truck

European strategy specific for 2004 ford mustang euro spec but also modified by SVT and used on the 03/04 cobra. Can be used on all 2002-2004 mustang v8 and v6 manual and automatics. Supports automatic 4r70w control. Can be used on 2001-2004 ford F-150 4.6 / 5.4 ecu's if configured correctly as well.

Electric cooling fan for a truck

Unread post by BoringF150 »

As I understand, a truck PCM doesn't have the hardware to run a cooling fan. If I use a Mustang PCM, will it be able to work with CHT and the IMTV?

no, they dont have the hardware.

why not use the fan on another pin thats unused?

or why not just use the original ecu ?

Original PCM is MPC-204 that won't run FBGI0. Currently using MPC-141 from a pickup.

Using an unused pin sounds way fun. Is it as simple as finding a pin assignment in a fan control subroutine and changing that or is it more along the lines of the fox body fan write up?

Haha, that would be rad if I were defining strategies. Considering my place on the learning curve, I bet I could whip it out something tune-able in 3 years, lol. Reassigning a pin without a bunch of hand holding would be a big win for me.
