Note: This tune WILL NOT WORK FOR ECU CONTROLLED AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSIONS

First I would like to say I really appreciate you providing this tune.

For the 4R70W, does it just need to have the trans type/strat switches changed to auto plus some of your trans101 to make it work or is there something else that makes this tune manual trans only?

its impossible to make an auto base tune without sailorbobs def file, theres wayyy too much u dont have access to in order to do so correctly, perhaps if someone asked him if he would allow it then I wouldnt have a problem posting them up

I'm missing something, Your posted ZXA5 is a .beb which is an encrypted tune requiring sailorbobs CDAN4.cry definition already right? I do have sailorbobs def.

I'm not looking for an unencrypted tune/bin, just auto mods to the already encrypted posted tune or some pointers so I can try to modify it myself.

Is the confusion because I didn't have sailorbob's def listed in my profile? sorry, fixed now.

"On every vehicle I tune I always, disable the tcc from locking between 0.7v - 3.0v of relative TP.'

Doesn't this preclude you from being locked during normal cruising? Can you explain more why one would want this?

Ahh... yes that probably true. No payload in GUFx to view/log relative TP. Use to seeing absolute.
Does CBAZA or CDAN4 have it?

While I was working my way through your excellent SCALING 101 writeup I've found some differences in ZXA5 that I'm trying to understand.

Code: Select all
          Table                    Writeup               ZXA5
FN320A (O/L Perload Threshold)      80-90               120
FN337 (O/L Warm Threshold)         200(temp)            200(load%)???

I know your writeup isn't really for CDAN4 and I expect some differences , like table FN513 (WOT TP Threshold) seems to be the equivalent of a scalar THBP2 (WOT Threshold).

Is ZXA5 set correctly but doesn't match the writeup because of differences in the strategies? I don't have the defs to be able to compare them myself and see how different FN320A and FN337 are in other tunes.

Thanks for verifying, ZXA5 is correct, just a bit different than the writeup.

I just realized BE doesn't make it obvious it's still in comparison mode nor label which columns belong to which tune. I used the wrong column because of that. I corrected my previous post for other CDAN4 tuners who find this :D

yea the BE compare is buggy, it leaves out a bunch of changes and it takes forever

tunerpro compare tool is bad ass, takes a fraction of a second and never an issue

After reading the ZXA5 page, I am confused on 2 points. Hopefully these are not stupid questions.

Is the MAF flow limit 1750 on ALL EEC-Vs or just the 2002+ versions?
Is the MAF top voltage 16 volts? The reason I ask is that when I grab a baseline MAF transfer for the HPX 3" slot from http://www.efidynotuning.com/ford/maf.htm it has a row for 16 volts however, when I load the ZXA5.beb into BE I see a top voltage of 5.120.

no question is stupid if u dont know the answer, we dont judge on this forum anyway so no sweat

in the late 90s (99+) henry changed the actual airmass calculation, instead of converting ecu clock ticks to airmass, an actual airmass value was used in the code, when this occured the maximum airmass the ecu can calculate was clipped to 64 lbs/min

64 * 60 / 2.2 = 1745 kg/hr or roughly 1750

the eecVs maf voltage only goes to 5.12v instead of 16 like the older ecus, the maf transfer is setup that way on the homepage of this site so when u copy it into your tuning software you dont have to fix it if using an older ecu

If they changed it in '99, does that mean the earlier EEC-V still has the same air mass limit as the EEC-IV?

I believe so, it depends on the strategy and how the airmass is calculated

zxa5 is a bin for the v8, if you want to control a v6 with it you have to change the appropriate settings from a v8 to a v6

if you read a stock bin be sure you read it as a 256k tunerpro needs, details are in the getting started write up
