EEC-V Master Hardware List

Unread postby decipha » Sat Apr 02, 2016 7:31 am

Below is a hardware list of hardware codes and strategies, this is extremely useful for knowing what you can use on which ecu hardware

why is this important? well disassembly is no easy process and that in itself is pretty time consuming then writing a def file and keeping up with datalogging etc... can be a bit tedious, this list will show which hardware codes are support by which strategies therefore its absolutely useless to disassemble more then one strategy within the same group since they are the same, hopefully this will help out the DIY community so we can focus on supporting a vast majority of the hardware and not have to focus on specific strategies.

I've compiled this list myself over the years tuning different setups so most of the info here is correct but if you find anything that isn't please note it so it can be corrected.

What could you tell me about these EEC's? Are there def files out there for them?

haha I recognize that ecu, those oddball ones are from a mazda 626

yep ALL ecu's are reprogrammable, it just depends on if you want to spend on the money on creating support for it or not

there is none out there, and the mazda code is quite different from henrys so that would be pretty costly to develop, your looking 1,000 minimum to have an xdf file written for it

I was afraid that was going to be the answer... It will likely come to fruition. It will be a grand worth spending in my eyes to have the car running properly and maintain NYS OBD compliance.

Ok, I am a newbie to the forum and this type of tuning. I have transplanted a motor and trans from a '98 Crown Vic cop car into an old truck. It runs fine. However, I am in the process of building a 5.4 PI engine, along with a set of aftermarket cams. What changes, if any do I need to make to the PCM to allow the new combo to work with that PCM? How are changes made? Do I need to purchase other components to make this happen?
Thanks in advance, Steve.

hey steve welcome to the forum

im not sure if the 98 vic had pats on it or not i cant recall off the top of my head, I want to say it doesnt iirc, its been a long time since ive played with one

in any case, you dont HAVE to change anything if you dont want to, as long as your using the same maf and injectors itll run perfectly fine

always best to properly dial it in though

software wise at that time i think its gong to be either CRAIA or CRAIB was the strat being used on them depending if its early or late year, its very similar to CRAJ0 which Ive actually ran on them before many moons ago

that strategy has been on the to do list for some time theres an xdf floating around thats complete but not very well put together, best bet would be to go the remote tune route which then forces me to clean the xdf up

Thanks for the answers. This PCM doesn't have PATS. Police and taxi were built without PATS for obvious reasons, so it was easy to "plug and play". I was just unsure if the stocker could be improved.
