Crank trigger angle

Used only on the 03/04 Marauder but can be used on any 03/04 ecu with code changes. Uses newer style SCP array so will not control cluster correctly on 2004 and older fords that use the older style SCP array such as mustangs.

Crank trigger angle

Unread post by dleach1407 »

In RZASA is it possible to adjust the crank trigger angle? I was looking at my 36-1 wheel and the missing tooth is not at the 12 oclock position like on my stock explorer balancer. It will either be at 11 or 1 oclock roughly. Am I able to adjust the angle of the pickup in relation to the missing tooth or should I make the bracket in a manner that the pickup is the same degrees distance as the stock balancer? It obviously will be a lot easier to make the bracket and then simply adjust the angle if possible.

I guess I should have actually downloaded the files and looked. Im guessing its PIP_UP_BTDC? Is there a way to say lock it at 10 degrees with no advance and then adjust the angle to get the ignition to fire at the same timing the ecu is calling for? You can do this with the holley ECUs which makes it simple to adjust. You basically get it close and then add or remove to the angle to adjust spark so it matches what the ECU is calling for

With the engine at TDC you can mount the pickup 50deg from the missing tooth, or 5 teeth.

I'm sure you have already seen this: https://wiki.autosportlabs.com/Ford_EDI ... nformation

There is a way to lock it at 10deg, I don't know how, but decipha has mine at 10deg at idle in the startup tune to verify timing.

Thanks @rinnerauto. I'm going to try and get the custom bracket close but I'm sure it will be off so I wanted to make sure there was a way to dial it in if its off. On a side note, I mocked up my blower kit today and it looks like it will clear everything so I'm now gonna throw a blower on it too.

Not to highjack but what type of blower? Getting rid of the distributor is begging for a screw type supercharger on top.

negative you shouldn't try to manipulate it any best to get the hardware situated correctly as it alleviates a bunch of possible issues

So if the crank trigger is off a few degrees it's not something that we can adjust in the tune?

Here's what I'm in the process of doing on my 408, but I'm not too sure of the "stick out", beings it will be in a desert race Ranger (rocks, etc). Might eventually notch the backside of the balancer and fab a similar bracket. It will be easy to slide the pickup to adjust. Instead of there, you could mount anywhere in the 360° circle, as long as it's in the correct relation to the missing tooth.
