4cy 2.3l fox sneaky HP.... tuning 2.3?

Been hanging out at the oval track lately and there's a bunch of 4cyl foxes running pretty good in the street stock and bone stock, what kinda stuff can be done and keep it looking stock on the outside motor wise?
I gotta build me something and I can't stomach racing a FWD Honda...

What kinda hp can a 2.3 make while keeping a stock appearance? I can throw some crazy gears in it.... much hp can be added by tuning it for max hp?

if you want power out of it youll have to boost it

Wish I could hide a blower/turbo :D
rules don't allow power adders or I'd go for an xr4ti, but I did notice the one guy had an 8 plug roller cam 2.3, and another had some bigger injectors and I'd guess other mods too but there so hush hush they just say it's stock stuff....

Bah guess I'll just have to be a better driver :twisted:

Losing weight will be much cheaper than making more power. I'm not sure what the rules are but you can go roller can from early 90's Rangers, head work is huge, rangers have 2.5 strokers, they also have an updated oil pump. Higher compression with a QH will help make the car much more responsive.

All in all you can make 25 more hp! Seriously, lowering weight is much easier. Here's a site for a few good N/A tips: http://www.route66hotrodhigh.com/2300.html
