What about programming and software section, that generalizes all EEC-IV and V?
There were a lot of threads to do with SAD, decompiling and assembly code in general.

This new forum has zero threads that relate to my setup, and what I'm working on. Would be nice to restore the history.

Any outside link to your website is broken.
All Search Engine Optimizations (SEO) are gone, search engines will start to degrade your site, harder to find.

Sorry to be blunt, but you are doing an extremely poor job of maintaining your website.

No backup, just "yep old stuff is gone"?

I think you are going to lose a lot of the community, unless that was your plan, to start fresh.

How long until the next crash, or update, where all the data is "just gone" again, at your discretion?

website and forum are still at the same url. Any specific links to threads would of course fail but all else is the same. 4 of the 5 links on the homepage resolved correctly including the premium member section.

I have no concerns with search engines as very few come here from them. The majority of google searches return the website pages which is all unchanged and the majority of what search users use. Most people find what they need and go on only a small portion register on the forum and actually stay active. Of the 1500 members more than a 3rd ~about 600 were inactive for over a year.

I like blunt as I am as well.

I have backups of the old database and forum from the day prior and the day of but in order to roll back to it I would have to do a server side roll back of the current php version. It was a php update on the server that made the forum not function correctly and during the forum update an old mod in the sql database caused it to fail which I had forgotten about from way back when.

I could restore everything and do an update again with the mod stuff out but it just doesnt seem worthwhile as I wanted to reorganize everything anyways. The old way everything was structured was less than ideal and was confusing for many people as they couldnt find specific things that were talked about for another strategy and not present in theirs. On the premium member side everything being under strategy and not vehicle makes it significantly easier for posting updates as its all in order. The que on updates on the premium side used to get cluttered and sometimes some member would get missed. This way its much better organized and the que comes in on each strategy which saves a significant amount of time just switching between them.

Yeah Im sure some folks will be upset as many people dont like change but it is a step in the right direction. I always tend to look forward to making progress and dont usually dwell on the past looking back. It may not seem like it but a lot of the old threads had outdated info thats not accurate these days as well. Above all more accurate up to date info is the primary goal.

I regularly port over any useable and meaningful info to the write ups to keep them up to date as often as possible.

If theres anything thats not covered there thats what the forum is for.

I dont forsee any data losses or crashes anytime soon. The forum is now server side maintained independent of me so all future updates to php or bb is handled automatically. Any errors or issues are corrected by the developers now so Id say we are in pretty good shape.
